Hi Dell question as I got similar set up with factory battery and hoping to reuse as you mention in post. Removing relay etc. I assume the original wiring its ok for victronOrion xs as you already swapped few different dc dc chargers there and newer mentioned about wires, my question its what...
Hi I'm installing 200w solar to a split charge system as in your diagrams
I'm look at either the
Renology DCC50S 12V 50A DC-DC ON-BOARD BATTERY CHARGER WITH MPPT - seems nice n simple
or
Victron MPTT with the Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger Isolated
Question I have is do I need to also...
more on the Orion XS.
in the T6 we use the H pin to POS method.
.
ah !!! found it.
Low temperature cut-off (configurable for lithium batteries)Note that this setting only takes effect when the battery temperature isshared by other devices, for example by a BMV in a VE.Smart network
so...
Solar MPPT chargers tend to be used with very commodity batteries in banks for off grid storage - and in that case they tend to be the only charger - so it makes sense to have temperature protection in them, likewise many have useful load switching capability.
In "our" situation in van there...
Random question, I have noticed people's wiring going into their dc-dc chargers seem to have connectors on the end. What type are they? This is for chargers that have the screw down type clamp attachment, i.e. the victronOrion. I just left mine as plain wire and clamped it in!
Here’s my list
RENOGY IP67 50A DC-DC Battery Charger or the new Orion xs 12 12 50a
Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 100 | 30
2x BM2 battery monitoring APP
4x 60amp midi fuses and holder
1x 50amp midi fuses and holder
1x 30amp midi fuses and holder
Aux fuse box 12 way
100A-6 Terminals Block...
The Victron MPPT will thave low temp. (Assuming the unit is fitted in the van to detect the temp occasionally
.........
The IP65 charger doesn't show low temp protection.
........
Oriondc-dc doesn't show any low temp protection.
What's your battery? Lithium?
But yes, the Victron presumably is there to replace the Sargent mains charging facility.
The Sargent therefore is now just for distribution of the 12 and 240v.
Thanks for all the excellent guides and threads on starter battery charging/maintenance.
With this method of charging the starter via the cigarette socket, are there any precautions to take charging the starter from a socket in the van when on EHU (or just straight from the mains for that...
Thanks, and that's a good price but I've gone Victron again and bought the Orion-Tr Smart 12v 18w at a decent price. I've also bought their IP65 charger for when on hookup. Must admit I wasn't expecting the CTEK to let me down but at least now I have all the elements that'll play nicely with the...
Ah. A DC-DC with lithium profile, so something like a VictronOrion or Renogy equivalent. Some have a built in MPPT so you could future proof that option too if you wanted. I went down the Victron route.
As mentioned above a split charger will only be giving you about 80% charge in your LB due...
The Battery Protect isnt needed but if you've already got it, you could still use it as a Bluetooth switch. I find it quite useful to be able to turn off the 12V fuseboxes on demand
T6 Shuttle finished in metallic grey, 45415miles, MOT'd till May, presented in excellent condition and clearly very well cared for.
Exterior & Chassis:
- Metallic grey paintwork in very good condition
- Navis 20" alloy wheels
- Vogtland lowering springs for a tasteful, improved stance
- Side...
I should really post mine too!
It's still a slight work in progress. 2000w inverter to add on the rear of the seat base, and a more permanent strap system (using the mount for the inverter to hold the straps going around the battery.
Solar is also yet to be activated, I'm waiting for the...
Looking good. A couple of comments:
I’d fit a larger fuse in the LB pos to avoid nuisance trips. Make it bigger than max load and smaller than cable capacity. 100a would probably be fine.
Consider an isolator after the LB main fuse to allow you to totally isolate the LB.
Why the isolator on...
I’m in the process of installing solar into my Birchover. Having spent several months exploring the habitation electrics, I’ve decided to fit the MPPT controller (Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 100 /30) on the vertical panel into the rear wheel arch locker (where the the water pump is sited)...
Afternoon all. Just looking on 12V Planet and seen this:
Seems that maybe the high heat at full capacity may have been addressed looking at the details.
