Thanks for the links again and taking the time to respond - appreciated. I have decided to fit separate components following your advice. I have just read the instruction manuals of a charge controller (Lumiax Win-500 - I need a decent IP rating since do a lot of watersports so the van is...
Putting this up for sale.
Will include box and manuals.
Preferably to be collected at Busfest (I will post if need to and agreed with buyer).
The unit is currently in my van, photos can be arranged and a video to show fully working if requested.
Any questions please ask...
What charging profiles are you using on the various Victron devices. They should be all the same profile. I have a custom profile for my SuperB battery & I shared it across my Mains/solar/Orion, this means they are all singing from the same hymn sheet & not fighting each other.
I likewise know Sterling from the marine side and the dual direction nature of the DC-DC is interesting, but it's hard to beat the combination of compactness, relative cool running and sheer capability of the new VictronOrion XS in a small van and using the Victron MPPT Solar alongside it makes...
Looks like a nice setup.
So what I would do.. would be to add in a Abelmail AMT12-2.
I've got one on both vans now and it works perfectly..... (I've also got the 230ah lithium, and 50A DC-DC etc etc on both vans.)
I've also added in the Abelmail Bluetooth adapter to twerk the AMT settings...
I’ve got a Victron multiplus 12/1200/50 and struggling with where to install it. I’ve got very limited choice due to my set-up. I read that it’s best to posn the inverter as close as possible to the leisure battery - is this simply to reduce the power cable lengths and therefore reduce the...
There’s no way can your alternator be overloaded by a correctly functioning Orion. The Orion will be pulling around 30A at full chat, the alternator will be capable of delivering over 100A depending on model.
VW use a basic split charge relay with the AGM auxiliary battery when specced as a factory option, it's what I have currently, with the 75Ah AGM battery. T6 Euro 6 with stop start and smart alternator.
Do you have the factory fitted 2nd battery or something aftermarket?
There's a few options...
Fogstar are correct, a shunt will be more accurate than the batteries own BMS - the fogstar batteries can't read draws under 1a. I have a constant 0.4/0.5a draw as I have a Cerbo GX and a 4g router powered on.
This is my battery BMS and Victron smart shunt reading at the same time - the shunt...
I was looking around to find the simplest Euro 6 electrical kit I could. I found this website that sell their own version of the Victron.
The company reviews on trustpilot are good but everyone seems to be using the Victron device.
I only found one reference on this website to the company with...
What was the state of charge of your leisure battery? If it’s nearly full it won’t get full amperage. Also, if you’ve not got it in the right settings that may not help. Plus as TallP says.
What size are your cables and fuses? Are they capable of 50a or have you set the Orion to give a max of 30a?
The cheaper one would be 480w so higher than the victron one which is 360w which was why I was leaning more towards that, and because of the price. The battery I have is this: Aferiy 2001A 2000W 1997Wh LiFePO4 Portable Power Station 624000mAh UPS Pure Sine | eBay It has a built in mttp. It only...

Please can anyone advise me @Salty Spuds @Drive Wayne @Dellmassive I’m having real problems with this VictronOrion 50amp charger, the supplier asked for the charge voltages which I sent now they’re asking for input charging which I don’t know how to obtain them.
Now this afternoon I went to...
I had a system which worked 2 110 ah AGM batteries with a Sterling 30 ah charger, everyone was saying go lithium for more power so I bought 2 100ah lithium batteries but my Sterling charger was confusing to set up with rows of leds and push buttons.
Again people were saying by Victron dc to dc...
We also cook inside the van as needed or when weather is bad or stopped for a lunch break somewhere. We have enough battery power cook on an induction hub and save the gas. With a victron 30amp Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger can be charged up by the time we arrive at location or overnight parking.
The victron one can do 20a continuous at 24v which is 480w, with a peak of 30a.
There's a few amp options in the drop down list. Here's the datasheet for them, I'd look at the 12/24-20. -...
