Hi, thanks for info.
Now it’s time to get cracking on it!
I did some research and studied on the page, and I asked Norma for a free design. 😂
Currently, I have:
- 3000w Renogy inverter with auto pass-through for 230v and 12v
- Victron Tr Orion xs 50a DC to DC charger
- Victron smartshunt 300a...
I used the non isolated VictronOrion TR30 for 2 years, it worked well but did get hot! Not much more money will get you the newer XS50, perfect product!
Thanks for reply.
I’ve now replaced the sterling B2B with a Victron Energy Orion XS 1400 50A DC-DC Battery Charger, replaced the lead acid battery with a Fogstar Drift 12V 105Ah Lithium Leisure Battery and wired up a
Victron Energy VE.Direct to Bluetooth Smart Dongle to the existing BMV 700...
I’m having problems with a VictronOrion 50 ah dc to dc charger as I’m only getting between 11amp and 14 amp charge to my 2 100 ah lithium batteries, so I’ve been asked by Victron what is my alternator output.
How do I find this on a 2021 T6.1 110bhp Startline with business and electric pack.
I don't think I'd be happy having a cheap chinese voltage converter in my van, personally.
Does your power bank have charging profiles via the solar input? guessing it does, hence no MPPT or the like to control the charging profile and stages, so you wouldn't technically need all that a DC-DC...
Hi, posted a question in the Electrics thread but will try here as I have a T6.1 Birchover. My electrics are currently completely standard but I'm planning to swap out my SCR for a VictronOrion XS DC to DC this week, ready to go Lithium in the near future (will de-rate the amps to 20A or so for...
If you went for this, you wouldn't need the split charge relay at all, the DC-DC replaces this.
You'd need to set the DC-DC as a power supply in the settings which will then provide a set voltage and so would act the same as a converter in that respect.
There is another DC-DC charger coming...
25mm2 wiring from seatbase to bus bars probably should be 35mm2 - same as inverter to bus bar.
200A fuse should be at the bus bar end of the cable rather than by the inverter
Fuse by seatbase should be at least 200A

all looks good,
that battery/s wernt fully charged then.
the CTEK d250 has the AUTO VSR feature as i call it . . . where it will switch ON when the starter battery is a high enough voltage.
with mu testing using a Victron charger i couls charge BOTH batteries just by connecting to the...

I'm presuming you mean the SB to DC-DC wiring - 6AWG/16mm² wire is the recommended wire for a VictronOrion XS 50a for runs below 5m, so it's plenty for a 15a DC-DC. 10mm² would be enough.
25mm² is complete overkill.
If in doubt, check the Victron manual, that will give the recommend wiring...
Look at the victronOrion XS for a DC-DC.

A great 50A charger... I've using them in both vans now....
Keep an eye out for 12volt planet.
That's where I got both mine from.... £290 ATM.

Hi, there is also a new interesting DC-DC charger Orion XS from Victron with programable curent up to 50A. Its smaller than the older Orion-TR chargers and Victron says that it works with better efficiency than older units. I am now in the decision if to wait for a new version of Renogy 50A...
