T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

If the software issue is causing fuel dilution of the sump oil it will eventually become a terminal hardware issue. The earlier comment regarding the AA removing 1L of oil to get the dipstick level down to 50% should be worrying as the total oil capacity is 7L. See earlier content in the thread...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Here's my experience... Transporter 150ps - manual 4Mo - Highline roughly 9000 on the clock. Just returned from 7 weeks driving (fully loaded including a couple of bikes) in the French/Austrian/German and Italian Alps. Had the van serviced just before we went away. No probs 200 miles to Dover...

    ‘Oil level too high’ warning

IMO the key is to establish why the oil level is too high before deciding how to deal with it. If it has been overfilled then yes, removing some is appropriate. But if diesel has entered the sump due to incomplete regenerations I'd rather change the oil, diluted oil surely cannot protect your...

    T6 engine swap CXH 2017 to 2020

I’ve recently bought my first Transporter and quickly found myself waist deep in a project. The Transporter in question is a 2017 ex-RAC SWB T32 (with 2017 2.0 tdi CXH engine), which I bought from a car auction site as a non-runner; upon delivery I found several holes in the side of the block...

    2017 - 150BHP Euro 6 - Seized Turbo - Not getting Oil

Hi, Hopefully someone can help. I have a 2017 Euro 6 150BHP T6 Transporter. Now, i haven't had the van long and i like to stay onto off servicing and making sure they are in tip top condition. There was an oil pressure warning light on the van (the red oil can light, i believe this is the high...

New engine required - apparently - what would you do?

Probably a bit too much navel gazing here, the engine is going to have to come apart with head removal a bare minimum and a look up from the sump if a bent rod is suspected. Head off will reveal valve damage, bore scoring or least worst option a blown head gasket. I'm not a mechanic but assuming...

Auto defrost on domestic fridge not working - can low gas cause icing on the evaporator coils ?

Thanks both for your responses. You've clarified what I thought, it's BS then that low gas causes icing. See photos from today. I switched the fridge off for defrost last night. Ice had built up at back of evaporator only, where the sort of sump is that drains to the outside. The drain isn't...

    Shunt/battery control module part-no

Poor routing and or both I guess. It seems I’m not the only one, and broken / worn wires are common on the T6 as they age. I’m not surprised to be honest, there are a lot of exposed wires and those that are in the conduits are routed in such a way they are pulled very tightly in many directors...

    Oil Extraction Pumps

Has anyone got any recommendations for oil extraction pumps? Now, I'm a firm believer in dropping the sump plug to do an oil change but I always seem to spill at least some oil so I'm thinking of getting an extraction pump to pump most out before removing the sump plug.....and I think it would...

    180 BiTdi Oil Change

Procedure is the same as any vehicle, Warm engine Remove sump plug, drain oil Remove oil filter Fit new filter (smear some oil on the rubber seal of the new filter) Refit sump plug (new washer if you have one, wouldn't worry if you don't) Fill with oil, check level Start engine, switch off and...

Oil Analysis shows high levels of Iron

The thing hasn't been to bits, no noises or other issues. I've just seen the @Birsey thread and his intake manifold. Although I've never had any of his longstanding issues. I'll get on it in the next couple of weeks, and will pull the EGR cooler off and have a look at that. The issue can...

    Cruise Control Retrofit Euro6

I’ve not read the whole thread so if I get the wrong end of the stick that is why. So byte 29 turns on the LIN bus used (in my2019 T6) for MFSW. If you have the earlier engine/stalk CCS, it uses the other LIN bus. If you have turned one of them off, that is prob why you are having problems. Use...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Completely agree and think the Dealers need to come clean with this. Randomly replacing parts arent solving the issue and the contamination is going to cause issues later down the line.

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

I don't understand how just reducing the oil level is a satisfactory solution to the problem. I agree with @DXX, the cause is likely to be diesel entering the sump due to failed regenerations. As others have said, oil analysis would prove or disprove this. So reducing the oil level just means...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Exactly the same experiences; Went back and forth with the main dealership. They now only seem to fill to 70%(ish) as they are aware of the problem. Had been awaiting an update to reduce the Regen rate but appears to have never arrived as I presume that doesn’t meet their emissions guidelines.

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

If in doubt change it, ideally get an oil analysis done beforehand and amongst other things it will reveal how much fuel dilution. If you don’t have an oil analysis kit available just change it.

    Oil Extraction Pumps

Is not the idea of removing the sump plug to also remove any debris that has sank to the bottom? Would sucking the oil out remove these particles?
