    Sportline Turbo problem [Resolved]

It’s important that the cause of a turbocharger failure is diagnosed. There’s a high chance it’s lubrication failure so it’s important that the oil sample analysis is carried out, possible fuel dilution issues. Depending on the quality of the oil there may well be other engine damage especially...

    VW Dealerships - personal experience

Well, I didn't stick around to witness the service, but if I trust their checklist and invoice, that pretty much sums up what I got (no more or less than I expected). Actually, according to the break down, I also got a new "screw" which I presume must be the drain plug (£4.95  ) I also...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

A jolly good bath…. Love this thing Also, spent a few minutes removing the under tray to check for oil leaks as the approved used warranty runs out in December so would have got them sorted before going for the All In plan. No need to worry as all bone dry under the sump, gearbox, rack etc -...

Oil pressure issues after top end rebuild

Morning, I’ve recently done a top end rebuild of a 2018 T6 2.0tdi with 104,500m after a cambelt snap. I’ve had all sorts of issues since doing the rebuild one of which was a misfire due to stuck injectors. This is now sorted. Now she’s up and running I’ve got an oil pressure fault at idle. So...

Pulls to the left at speed , more so with heavier load

Yes as long as the sump oil level is maintained and the seal failure isn’t caused by a main bearing cap bolt failure as in very rare cases. Just be aware that oil contamination of the timing belt could cause belt failure and catastrophic engine damage. If you remove the timing belt top cover you...

Pulls to the left at speed , more so with heavier load

Just had timing belt replaced couple months ago, fingers crossed should be fine.. I’ll take another look in the morning before I set off back to Bristol.. currently the other end of the country Inverness. Is the cover easy to remove?

    2017 204PS BiTDi - Seized turbo!

I thought VW only supplied a complete bi-turbo assembly? Like I mentioned earlier in post #20: Looking at the 204ps diagram if the exhaust flap control system (15,16 &17) failed the small turbo would overspeed. Would there be any faults logged? There are many questions, the mechanic who is...

    Oil change (TSI) step through

So, the Oil Service reminder is pinging on my dash every time I start it up and, at nearly 4 years old, I thought I would do this myself this time. It’s useful having a carport to work under when its raining, but it tends to hoard windswept debris so a quick sweep up is always needed before...

    Vw T6 102 EGR swap?

I have just had to replace the EGR valve on my 2012 Tiguan 110K miles, all of the same symptoms as above. EGR is behind the engine just above the sump joint. The pipe to the inlet manifold bolts onto the back of the head and then another pipe from the front of the head to the inlet manifold...

    Fault code P0299 Boost - 2019 Crafter

I’ve got a 2018 crafter 177bhp with what sounds like an identical issue. It’s been to several VW specialist and the furthest they got was to replace the n75 solenoid with no avail. Our van also has a stage 1 remap. The fault has been so intermittent that the mechanics have struggled to pinpoint...

    Vw T6 102 EGR swap?

Official VW manual is pretty clear about this - change the bolts/gaskets during every refit. They state the mandatory replacements at the beginning of every chapter. There is clearly a reason for that (although in some places - an overkill).

Dead turbo at 46k miles :-(

The oil sample from the failed engine maybe of limited value as the turbocharger failure will have introduced contaminants. If you are going to sample don’t do it from dropped oil, use a syringe and tube down the dipstick to avoid external contamination, probably the only data worth looking at...

    T6 Kombi 2016 189 T32 Blue motion

if the original problrm was the EGR failing, before revision D. then you could assume that a NEW engine with a REV D or later EGR cooler would NOT have the same problems down the road - as VW have seen the problem a made revisions to fix the problem. BUT, If you replace with USED engine with...

Was suspected lifter noise, likely diesel knock, and what I am doing about it

...oil pressure related so pulled the trigger on timing belt kit, waterpump, front flange seal, oil pump belt & oil & filter along with the sump removal. I did find the oil pickup partly clogged with wet belt oil debris from it breaking up etc, with all that work carried out I thought it was...

Oil leak - stain on floor, can’t see anything underneath

If you’ve got a plastic sump guard remove it. Thoroughly de-grease the engine and wash it down. Run the engine for a short time and look for a leak, if none visible run longer / go for a short drive. Generally trying to accurately locate an oil leak on a dirty engine is harder than cleaning it...
