No No Faff, the light unit just pops out with a trim tool..... Or will have two screws holding it up here, that you can see when the bulbs changed. Easy peasy and nice bit of space up there.

Well this one was really simple stupid - dodgy bulb. New one in and sorted. In 40 years of driving I’ve never known a build to work intermittently. Confirmed it was the bulb by swapping over to the drivers side and it didn’t work there either. Oh well

Is the option then that I have to change a whole headlamp out or just live with the rainbow/bluish edges?

Just check the indicator bulbs

Ye the headlight bulbs are right awkward to get into Need tiny hands and retractable eyeballs

The indicator bulbs may have been changed to LED and causing the fault on the diaplay - and unrelated to the worng battery

Hi, I have done this. Will need some light adaptions changes on leuchte12 leuchte 13nbl at lamp load settings. no errors or bulb warnings so far.

The fog light is an LED built into the light unit it cannot be changed and yes if it fails you would need to change the whole unit.

Have a search for ‘H4 to H7 Upgrade’, there is a massive thread that answers every conceivable question on the subject. In essence, it’s change the bulbs, fit H7 headlamps or fit LED headlamps. Each has pros/cons and supporters/detractors.
