I might take to the tuners near me and ask them to check for a bad map, you never know what someone has previously done to it really. I've always thought a throttle body should be around 10% to 18% open on idle. Unless VW do it backwards and it's 83% closed on idle.

No leaks in intercooler and vacuum pipes look all good and electric connectios, the erratic mpg, quite substantial it seems to be intermittent this week it's been really good on fuel. Whereas last week it did 300 miles to a full tank. Sluggish acceleration is always there though.
