Fumes in the cab is a safety / health hazard, VW Assist is probably the quickest solution. There have been design improvements on the original pipe.

When you reverse, it automatically turns on recirculation mode so it recycles the air in the cab via a flap valve, to avoid sucking in exhaust fumes. The tone of the fan changes when this happens. :thumbsup:

As Dellmassive says you really need a second opinion. Search for VAG or VW specialists in your area rather than just any local independent garage... at least then you know your van is in safe hands..

If the roof had moved backwards the cam would engage MORE with the bars so that's not it. Take some pics of the cam in the locked position relative to the bars as close as you can get them together when taking a pic from the side to see how far the cam overlaps the bar.
