Its not for the weak! Haha Mines down about 160mm I reckon give or take. Subframe catches/scrapes on speed bumps, as does the front jackingpoints and exhaust. I've almost beached it a few times but wouldn't have it any other way!
SoLows all the way down, machined top mounts and hub mod. Got...
Have been looking online for the jacking point measurements on the T6 LWB (no i haven't got a van to measure) can find all van dimensions but not this measurement.
need to know front to back and width apart.
have to check the arms on my hoist will reach the jack points
I’m not proposing to put the axle stand under the anti-roll bar itself, just under the chassis plate that it is bolted to. I don’t want to have an axle stand in the left position under the jacking point.
...Also, regarding hoist lifting points: I have a 2 post hoist and would like to know what the correct lifting points are. Do I use the jackingpoints? Most cars you can find factory lifting drawings but VW seem a bit shy on most things that allow you to work on your own vehicle.
I’ve read...
I tow this a lot (and it is for sale...!)
6' x 4' x 4'
Lockable shutter
Spare wheel
13 pin electrics (with 7 pin adapter)
ply lined
strapping points
wind down jacks
Internal switched lights
It would be absolutely superb for your NC500 trip - I just haven't got round to putting the ad up...
I jack the front up using a bottle jack on the jacking point one side at a time then place an axle stand under the big tubular section that I think supports the engine. Then do the other side. Done it a fair few times with no problems.
If you go for a new tyre they will jack it up with a trolley...
There are only 4 official jackingpoints, obviously if you have a jack on them you can’t fit a stand.
You will need to mount the stand on the strongest part of the lower suspension arm pivot NOT the body or the suspension arm.
Some have used the subframe with a block to spread the load.
Just...
That's good guidance. Thanks. Our noise is very much in the 'straight line' so this would point more towards the lower ball joints. I'm just surprised that I couldn't provoke any movement in them when I jacked it up and hauled on the bottom of the wheel.
What you've got is probably as good as you can do. My only improvement would be to rotate the stand under the jack point by 90 degrees so there is less chance of the packer being displaced.
My Caravan has inboard jockey wheel which is a fecking stupid design and yes can be a problem with lowered van. I just ensure it is pointing directly forward or it won't lower enough. I always use the motor mover to get it on and off pitches so I just make sure it's driven for a few meters...
After watching a couple of videos I didn't like how complicated everyone was making this process
This is how I did it.
Pop the bumper off and remove RH headlight.
Remove air box.
This was the hardest bit because I couldn't work out how it was attached. You have to pull it forwards to release...
Reading this now you added your comment and 4 years in I’m still not sure where the jackingpoints are. I assume that if I ever remove the jack from the holder and offer it up to the side of the van it will be obvious where it goes. Or maybe I’ll get a man in to do it :)
Hi,
I need to do a temporary repair on the engine bay under tray on my Caravelle. It’s partly hanging down. I guess it will need a new one but we are due to go on holiday.
If I use these to raise the front of the van up so I can get underneath is there anything I need to check for safety etc...
