Keep OEM rubber load floor or remove and ply line/insulate/sound deaden/carpet floor??

...completely silencing the van and am comfortable with sound deadening around the wheel arches but not much elsewhere and relying on the insulation and carpet to add a bit more silencing properties (compared to no insulation or sounded deadening currently!). I have just been advised that the...

    Dan’s Van

A bit more of an update to share while I am here and catching up. I had ordered Dodo mat sound deadening, some insulation and everything to carpet interior panels when I had my old van but never got around to doing it thankfully. Strangely this van seems to have had a factory fitted insulation...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Made a foil insulation pop top cover. Triple checked the dimensions so I'm confident it'll fit, but need to wait for the missus to be home before I do a test fit.

DODO Mat DEADN DUO under the cab floor?

Have to admit, not fully sure. That said, by far the coldest surface in the back of the van in cold temperatures is my floor - which has no insulation, but I wish it did.

    Uprated Tailgate Struts

Just checked and I actually have 985n ones I don’t remember getting them but you can see with the T5 “type” rack fitted and some soundproofing/insulation fitted they are not quite up to the job: Just pulling open: Pushed fully up:

    Windscreen Cover - recommendations

We use a Just Kampers insulated cover. Folds and squashes up small enough. Used it last night in minus 6 and woke up to no condensation or ice on the inside of the screen and front windows. Other windows were frozen on the INSIDE.

    Any Welsh Members?

Just purchased a T6 high top, completely off the cuff! Now have insulation and windows installed, now planning electrics! This is my downfall, taking it slow and researching as much as I can. So far, I’m enjoying the challenge

    Too much shaking

Has the van been sound-deadened and insulated? This will help reduce panel resonance. Also, the suspension is designed to take weight and we find that our camper (still on factory wheels/suspension) is a whole lot less noisy when fully loaded with all the camping gear. You could try adding...

Energy Usage Help - 60kwh per day!

Intermittently faulty thermostat on the immersion maybe? Would explain the odd patterns of overnight usage. If the cylinder takes around 2 to 3hrs to heat up, I’d expect the insulation on a modern Unvented cylinder to stop drawing power at the point the stat is satisfied & hold that temp

    Remove carpet to insulate?

...it has already been ply'd, lined with carpet and the flooring has been done. It looks great but there aren't any specific thermal or sound insulation pads stuck to the panels or wheel arches etc. In terms of when I'm driving, the noise of the van is pretty quiet but I'm conscious that the van...

    Year round usage?

Ditto in all but we don’t need thermals, gloves or hats on at night. Once the heater warms the van up it’s pretty toastie until morning

Coverting a panel van to kombi with a Kombi bed eventually ready for summer

Your a star Phil Thankyou I wasn’t going to do the cab area or the floor as I’m keeping the insulated rubber mat out the Kombi where I got the seats and belts from. Do you think 10m2 of carpet would be enough and 10 tins of spray for ceiling and walls?
