    Oil leak but from where?

...is coming from, I'm thinking either clutch seal side or the front of sump join. I guess if I dropped the sump and could re-seal and then also see if oil is coming from the crankshaft oil seal as the sump removal exposes some of the flywheel area? Oil appears to come from somewhere in the...

    Rear main seal replacement?

I'd agree, there doesn't look like there's any oil around the seal. My 2017 CXEB DSG had oil leak fixed under warranty back in the day that was leaking through the bolts. It was quite a leak leaving a small pool when stopped each time. That was fixed with new bolts/sealer and has been fine ever...

Big leak (update to previous thread)

After I changed my intercooler, the rubber seals in the pipes were not seated properly. This lead to lots of oil at the front of the engine as oil mist would blow out under boost. It wasn't enough to trigger a low oil warning so I'm sure that the volume of oil was not a concern. It did make a...

Should I replace timing belt and water pump at 43,000 miles and 8 years old?- VW say no.

Aah I see now. It includes a full service and crank pulley oil seal. Probably not far off what I'd expect to have to pay. Certainly the service is a similar price. Not had the timing belt/water pump done in my ownership.

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Notably oil seals are covered under extended factory warranty but not the all in warranty, I have the later.

Snow: fold Mirrors in or leave out?

I also use silicone oil spray on door seals to dispel water and diminish the risks of freezing and jammed doors. Good idea about inference of mirrors and body.

    Oil leak but from where?

I'm no expert on these motors, but my first thought was rear crankshaft oil seal.

Warranty oil leak claim refused under extended

Had a service and MOT under my extended warranty and diagnosed a Main crank oil seal leak. VW Alan Day has said the below come back from VW. Has anyone successfully appealed this? They want a bag of sand to do it ffs. “ Observation The rectification of oil leaks is not covered under this...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

The oil looks to originate from the intercooler hose . It had a new turbo fitted about 10 weeks ago along with new cooler pipe seals and one of these has been mangled during fitting . Took cooler out and drained it , rebuilt using new seal and will give it a go .

    T6 DSG oil seal leak.

Hello all, Didn't see this discussed before but noticed I have an oil leak from a large oil seal on the LH side of the DSG. There is a capped oil seal near the gearbox mount that's weeping. Is this a gearbox out job or can it be changed in situ. ? Cheers.

It's more about the next services distance Vs remaining tank miles that interests me.. or it did yesterday on the M5.

5 Year Factory warranty v the all in mot, breakdown, and 2 year service plan

The factory extended is for years 4&5.... And covers oil seals and leaks. The allin pack does not cover oil seals and leaks.

Crank case seal replacement - cam belt off?

The two jobs aren't related so you could do the crank pulley oil seal now and get the dmf done at a later date. make sure you get the water pump done when they do the crank pullley and timing belt. It would be a good idea to replace the clutch components at the same time as the DMF.

150PS Engine oil leak on the front

Had same issue. Tricked me into thinking it was the oil filter housing - swapped that, but still found puddle of oil. Changed can cover gasket, injector seals, retainer bolt seals, and all clean now.

    Boost whistle and injectors

You say the noise is when pulling away, is that the only time? If so, I doubt there is a boost leak. Your oil leak, is it black oil? It looks like it is, so probably leaking from the seals around the injectors.

What is this gunge on dipstick?

Dip it and wipe dozens of times to get rid of the oil emulsion in the tube, then the true colour of the oil in the sump should show. Could the dip stick have been not fully plugged home, so the O ring seals, allowing crankcase to breath up the tube? I get mayonnaise in the filler tube in the...

    Dreaded oil pressure switches

I'm having the same. 2016 T6 180k. Oil was stringy and lumpy so injector seals were replaced. Oil regulator and pressure sensors replaced. Coil light still appearing. Only stopping engine and restarting when it's warm will get it out of limp mode. Praying somebody here finds a solution!

    Solow low

There should be enough resistance in that damper for the piston to return to full length. Looks like it’s failed and you’ve lost oil. A new one is required. It’s also missing the adjuster sleeve and possibly the piston seal.
