I have a Meta Trak S5 Deadlock and Tracker fitted by Secured Vehicle Solutions. They come to you, home or work, so much less hassle. They did a great job on my Cali Ocean

Some insurers insist on a tracker that's professionally monitored, as Police are much less likely to respond to reports of vehicle theft in progress when they're reported by members of the public.
...Looking to buy a 2024 t6.1 in the next few weeks and I’ve been getting some insurance quotes to see what I might end up paying. I’ll be installing a tracker and I think I have 8 years no claims. Quotes I’m getting are around £1200. I’m 51 too
Any good place to get a quote from ins appreciated
...can stretch to one. You'll need size 'small' for a Transporter and, if you have twin captain's seats, it's easily stored when driving - it'll wedged nicely between the two seats.
Yes to the security post; yes to an immobiliser and yes to a Thatcham S5 tracker - security is all about layers.
...over 7 days. That's 5.5Ah per day.
That's an average current of 0.23 amps
That's not actually a huge amount it's not inconceivable that a tracker could do that, it does feel a bit high.
However in normal driving your capacity is going to be lower as it may only be charged to about 80%...
I went with 3 which is for smart alternator with lithium LB but others have it working fine in the default setting 4 (smart alternator with LA LB). It just tweaks the trigger voltages slightly. If you have high parasitic drain (tracker etc) then you may find setting 7 better.
...I've been reading recently, it is probably already in a shipping container.
However - one last ditch try. Sometimes they park it a few miles away for a few days to see if it has a tracker on it first. Maybe worth driving down some cul de sacs and quiet roads to increase the chance of retrieval?
I'm somewhat similar with the Caravelle but so far have not had a tracker mentioned as a condition. It's certainly something I'm considering given the value.
I have a t6 with the spec (can't remember term trendline, somethingline).
Does the vehicle have a tracker fitted as standard, but its just not enabled by VW unless you pay?
I find it wierd that the VW satnav seems to "know" of delays/congestion. So i suspect vehicle has a data connection.

...car now so we drive the van every day - about 40ish miles between school drop-off/pick-up and getting to work. We drove it last yesterday (both of us have a rare WFH day today). No tracker!
We're going to try and get a readout asap, but we're only going by the display at the moment (all we...
I'm insured with Comfort (Aviva). They didn't require a tracker, not sure if there would be a discount if I had one fitted, but weren't interested unless it was a Thatcham anyway. For my own peace of mind, I bought a cheap one by Streetwize (Halfords, Toolstation) which works with an adequate...
Result.
Caravan Guard quoted me £343 with a Thatcham Cat1 tracker fitted, or £358 with a Cat1 alarm.
After some research it seems that the T6 Highline comes with a Cat1 alarm from the factory.
So a quick phone call and an extra £15 to Caravan Guard and I'm covered for another year for £291 less...
To be fair the thieves would already have known.
So many of our work vans have the professionally installed and well hidden trackers defeated in minutes. This was before you could buy gps jammers for a couple of quid.
Immobilisers don’t seem much of a problem either when we used to have those...
Bizarrely, insurers aren't usually interested in immobilisers - only in trackers - and they'll specify the minimum Thatcham category required rather than a specific make/model. Cat S7 trackers are good; Cat S5 trackers are better; Cat S5+ trackers are Cat S5 trackers with remote immobilisation...
