...on axle stands? It’s the vertical plate on the chassis that the anti-roll bar is bolted to. I need to jack the fan from the standard jackingpoints and lower it on to axle stands so that I can get both rear wheels off.
I’ve searched for other threads and I see that lots of people opt for...
Thinking about it , because only one side of the van is being lifted by the jack the jacking point is moving horizontally as well as vertically. With a trolley jack the jack wheels move enough to keep the lifting base directly under the jacking point but other jacks can’t do that leaving a side...
I don’t like the vw jack either and got a bottle jack which would lift the van high enough to change a wheel which works well for routine maintenance but realised that with a flat tyre it wouldn’t fit under the jacking point. Solution was to use a smaller 2 ton bottle jack on a suitable point...
...want to carry in the T6 my heavy trolley jack. I have been looking at bottle jacks but can't find one that will fit under the lowered jackingpoints and also lift to a total of at least 400mm. The vehicle is lowered by 50mm. I have attached a couple of pics of the jackingpoints. Thank you...
I just cut a short length of wood each time. It goes between the jack pad and the jacking point, gets crushed slightly and then goes on the log burner afterwards.
TBH given the range of suspension heights wheel/tyre sizes etc you will probably have to measure your own set up to be sure what jack would work. To see if a jack would fit under the jacking point with a flat measure the gap and then deduct the height of the sidewall to your tyre, not exact but...
I think that is my next move. Use the one I have to lift high enough to get a bigger one under. I'm happy that if I had a puncture I'd find something to drive the flat wheel onto (wood, stone, kerb etc) to get the van high enough to get the jack under.
I never use the supplied jack as a stand alone support, but my bottle jack doesn't quite go high enough to get the wheel off so I use the van jack to get it high up then put an axle stand under. If I'm going to go under the van then I replace the van jack with a bottle jack as my second support...
I’m no expert obvs but for me the vw jack is not great quality but also has only 1 pivot point/ lifting arm which means it just goes with any side force rather than resisting it. I have used other scissor jacks with 2 pivot’s/ lifting arms with no issues. These jack’s also had a pivot at the top...
I have ordered a trolley jack from Halfords with axle stands.
I don't know exact measurements of the trolley cradle but looking to fit a rubber puck in the cradle. A puck that has a groove for the sill jacking point to fit as not to damage the sill or paint.
Are you saying all yours split?
...one that would take the weight of Transporter front without being right out dangerous after a year or two.
Why, under the official jackingpoints of course - circled in red in post #1 of this thread. Or sometimes under the subframe if I need to get the front on jack stands. Or sometimes...
Actually the OEM style jack sold by Heyner specifically for the T6 is rated at 1376kg (surprisingly) so it seems reasonable that the 2000kg scissor jack will be fine.
I am seriously considering one having had a very bad experience when the van fell off the OEM jack on Barra!!
Replaced the Left...
...for jacking locations for rear of T6.1 to remove rear wheel.
I am reluctant to use the factory jack. If someone can attach a photo where the jack head is suppose to locate.
Also, I may invest in a bottle jack or small trolley jack.
Where would the jackingpoints be for these? Much appreciated.
Can anybody help with obtaining a part number .
Someone forgot to replace a small front section of undertray which sits around the driver side front jacking point on my 6.1 .
Can anyone help
There's this monster discussion thread on the subject I tried to summarise in the past:
https://www.t6forum.com/threads/jacking-points-trolley-jacks-and-axle-stands.36326/page-3#post-625830
If you're having the wheel off for several days I'd not leave it on a stand, I'd just get a single...
I’ve lifted cars on trolley jacks at home before, and I’ve been very happy doing so as it’s been obvious where the jackingpoints are, and cars aren’t that heavy. But before I set about getting my van up in the air, I’d like to ask the knowledgeable folk on here how they go about this. I’ve...
Just wondering is anyone has come up with any good ideas for jack relocation
I have removed the rear wheel arch mounting point before carpet lining so looking for a new location, under front seats is rather jammed up with sub/amp/electrics etc so wondering if i can lose it under the rear 2+1...
