I tried to match my spare tyre (235/60/17) with the rolling diameter of my 18s (235/55/18) but the mistake I seem to have made is fitting it to a 17x8J wheel, so it won't fit in the carrier. Think I need to swap the wheel for a 17x7J.

Don't....I ran 255 55 18 and they scrub under suspension compression... Nightmare. Stick to 235 55 or 235 60 at a push. Take my word I tried them all.

Just to be clear, 235/55/18 tyres are very slightly over sized, so 235/60/18 will be massively over sized and the speedo will be out, and there will be a big chance of the tyres rubbing on the inside arches on full lock.

255/45/18 is almost identical to standard overall diameter (standard being 215/60/17) 255/55/18 takes it to almost identical diameter to my 235/65/17 Falkens...makes your speedo under read slightly...70 is actually 72 ish Can't comment on the width of yours, but would have thought it'd be fine...

I run Navis Mac’s with Cooper ATT 225/60/17 and they’re bob on for Speedo. So that’s the size I’d go for if you’re looking for 17” alloys. I’ve not seen the geolanders - will check them out

For information: I couldn’t get my new alloy with 235/55/18 on a 8.5 width ET45 to fit in the wheel carrier. That’s why I used the original VW wheel with the 235/60/17 tyre as a spare. Bognor Motors, I might get you to mod my carrier in the future so I can run same size spare. :thumbsup:
