Engine knocking / Tapping - Potential DMF problem?

As you're a manual, I'd be put in a new three-piece clutch on there as well. Maybe check the engine mounts front rear and side. The Cambelt and water pump job is due at 140k but that's the other end of the engine

    VW Independent Specialist - Cheshire

...of the business have replaced a pop top roof, fitted solar, and the garage side have replaced an EGR valve, done 2 x services & MOT’s and just replaced the cambelt / water pump (at my request). Not had any issues with any of the work so far and they’ll loan a car while the van’s in for a service.

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

So after a very expensive week ( flywheel, clutch, crank seal, water pump, cambelt and drop links) i decided to treat the drama queen to a good scrub. Also fitted rear bumper protector as dont want to batter it at work and tinted fogs (unsure what i think to them yet, mrs doesnt like them)

    Cam-belt change

Hello, my 2016 T6 last had a timing belt change in May 2020 at the VW Van Centre West Yorkshire. My query is 5 years on should I get the belt changed again now (60k in clock). I ask because reading other posts I understand the change frequency is now 133k miles and no time period. I'm wondering...

Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

Apart from the heat ATM, this topic is scrambling my mind. If for example VW commercial sent it to me in writing, that the cambelt and water pump should not need changing until 140K and no age limit, and then it did happen to break, surley they would be liable for repair? Not that I am a tight...

    Want to be T6 owner!

Re. cambelt change and mileage, imo the new advisory 140K should come with the proviso of an annual visual check for wear/tension ( as per European servicing schedule ). My 65 plate Kombi has just clocked 100k and had two belt changes since I got it 6 years ago on 55k. Not long after I got it as...

    Garage recommendation - Andover, Hampshire

Hi all Apologies if this isn’t the right place to post. Will move it if necessary. I’m looking to get some work on my T6. Cambelt and pump, clutch kit and service (oil and fuel filters) Been quoted by a local mobile garage that does stuff at home on his ramp too. Mostly good reviews but...

    Engine stalling

Maybe check your cambelt, a missing tooth or loose tension can cause these sort of running problems.

Timing Belt - Safe or risking it?

I got 6&1/2 years out of mine, was still fine but it’s only done 44k now. Vw told me it was 4year or 133k. Winged it for a couple of extra year to save the planet by adding another perfectly good cambelt to the graveyard.

    My Build Thread

Inbetween all this, i found the van had never had its cambelt changed and it was on 63k. VW in Germany confirmed it was not due yet, but i wanted to get it done. Additionally minor background things: It blew a glow plug, so had those changed. New brakes all round Aux belt changed (was...

Coolant Temperature Sensor Not Getting To 90

Yeah, your thermostats gone. If it’s not had a cambelt/water pump yet, then now would be a good time to save labour costs.

Oil Service & Inspection Due - Help please…

I'd just get it serviced, it seems you can't be sure when it was last done. At least then you know it's been done. At that mileage you should be thinking about the cambelt too, unless you're certain it's been done.
