Is it worth getting a poptop installed in a high mileage van?

Looks like the poptops will have to go on the back burner for now... My cambelt has just snapped ... and I had it booked in for a change the Wednesday after next 😭

80k miles / looking to buy / cambelt?

my opinion completely what’s the point in throwing 35k plus at a vehicle and skimping on a Cambelt change for peace of mind. Let’s not forget going back a year or so 80k or 4 years was the guidance which is what @VanMan48 is currently looking at

Oil Service & Inspection Due - Help please…

Yea, good point. I’m sure I saw the cambelt had been done but will confirm that too. Better safe than sorry! Thanks a lot

    Oil pump belt

...that's actually replaced one. They're under a very light load, they're quite beefy considering the job they do, and don't degrade like wet cambelts can. I think the whole point - like wet camnelts - is that they're in there for life, difference being wet cambelts were a gamble too far and...

T6 Service Intervals & Inspection, Flexible & Longlife

...VW Manchester this week for some warranty work, it's 2 years, 8 months old and they told me the brake fluid was overdue by 8 months and the cambelt is due in 16 months. Everything I've read says 3 years for first brake fluid change and cambelt is now mileage based, not time. Anyone know of...

Big service quote, am I being ripped off?

Is this applicable to older T6’s like mine?

Hi and welcome to the forum! I presume the dealer is proposing doing a service before selling. I would wrangle a cambelt and water pump change too

Engine won’t start after serpentine belt replacement

Apologies! I genuinely thought I’d closed this off, my bad! As @bluezie said, the shredded belt had wrapped round the crank pulley jumped two teeth. New cambelt and water pump and retimed and it was fine! Got very lucky I think!

Oil temp overheating - coolant level warning

Well, it ended up being the cambelt that was replaced 13 months ago (by the previous owner) was suspected to be overtightened. All the pulley's were seized, the baring had fallen out of the one pulley and that was the ticking noise I could hear. There's teeth missing on the cambelt, water pump...

If I was looking to buy, I’m liking this…

I was thinking the same! Change of wheels and a few tweaks and it’s done! I’m considering going for a butchers and off load the t5.1 4mo (now I’ve just had the cambelt and some other mechanicals/servicing done) 🤪

    Masses of white smoke

I assume it was all OK (appart from the EGR fault code) prior to taking it to get the EGR/Cambelt/waterpump fixed? It sounds like something that probably relating to the work they did. Hopefully just something simple. I would be calling them to get it sorted.

    Euro 5 engine.

...member here, got it in 2019 and it's a great workhorse having just gone round the clock. Replaced EGR at around 65K and had a couple of cambelt changes, apart from that just regular servicing. I was clueless about adblue etc. when I bought it, I wanted a LWB Kombi and realised I was lucky to...

...code, so it's likely not original. I think your vendor is talking out his arse, and the Internet shows different interpretations of Daycos cambelt date codes, but I'd hang fire and see what Dayco say. It's difficult to say without the belt in front of me, but your visual impression is not...

    Noobie , t6 cambelt needed? 33k 5 years old

Hi all. I have just paid the deposit on a van, 67reg, 33k mileage, highline model. The van will be mot'd and serviced, I asked about the cambelt and she said that VW have changed it to mileage only now and the 5 year rule no longer exists. This is a VW approved dealership. Anyone else...

Big service quote, am I being ripped off?

Just had a cambelt, water pump, auxiliary belt and an oil and filter change, all genuine parts at my local garage. £280 for parts £250 for labour I admit I got the parts myself from TPS

Cambelt & Waterpump cost, is this too high?

Legends thanks mate. I’ll get ringing around, also see what I get the parts for from TPS and find a good Indy

Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

...squeal noise from the front of the engine for the past couple of weeks. Defo a dry ball race type of squeak. It has to be the aux belt or cambelt. I did suspect the latter as aux tensioner was done under recall a few years ago. The forecast rain never appeared today so it took about 45 mins...
