80k miles / looking to buy / cambelt?

Seen a kombi '21 plate with 80k miles on it. I asked as part of the haggling with the dealer whether new cambelt could be fitted due to the milage/age. He said its 133k miles when it needs doing. Is this more or less the guidance now?

    Cambelt fitting advice please

...a froend of mine took his to a dealer and was called halfwat through the work that they need to do a interim service as part of the cam-belt replacement when he had had that done only 6 months previous. I know they now say 120,000km with no time limit for a cambelt but I want peace of mind.

Having discovered that VW has done away on the time element on cambelt changes due (it is rumoured to improvements in belts) I am wondering how I can make sure that I am buying a belt of the right quality? My original belt was a Dayco belt (with teflon finish on the teeth). Dayco list the...

Just got my 2017 t6 back after MOT, service , cambelt and water pump change. The garage dod the MOT yesterday and it passed no problem, after the service and cambelt change the brake lights wouldn't go off. They say they have checked and didn't damage anything. Nothing shows on diagnostics...

Cambelt snapped, rebuilt engine should I buy

Hi all, Hoping for some wise advice. I’ve seen a 2017 plate kombi for sale. 72k miles. Owner says they’ve had the van since 2018 and bought direct from Leightons. Says Cambelt went around three months ago and it’s now had a full engine rebuild. Is this something to steer well clear of? Cheers

Replacement second hand engines needed- anyone know where to go?

I think its because the auxiliary belt gets forced in through the crankshaft seal (after snapping due to the forces exerted) ,behind the crankshaft pulley, interfering with the cambelt, and causing engine damage. EDIT , or rather pieces of said shredded belt

DSG Oil service - service interval change

Yes, they don't give a reason why. They've also changed the cambelt change period to 125K miles, no specifics on period. Mines a 2019 T6.1

Cambelt change - HPFP way out of alignment

Hi, First time changing a cambelt on a T6 (2019 startline). I have watched the well reviewed VAG video on youtube which i am following. However, I have lined the crank pulley up to the TDC mark on the casing and the locking pin slides into the cam pulley….great, but the HPFP mark is way off...

    Ignition off electrical fault

...the engine. The fans coming on does sound pretty strange though unless it it DPF regen related. Regarding the battery going flat, and the ABS lights, that sounds like something else, possibly relating to the work replacing the cambelt - maybe take it back to the cambelt guy to check their work.

Engine won’t start after serpentine belt replacement

Very lucky - it's a good warning for all of us though to keep an eye on the condition of aux belt and always get it replaced when the cambelt is changed or if it gets damaged in any way.
