Apologies! I genuinely thought I’d closed this off, my bad! As @bluezie said, the shredded belt had wrapped round the crank pulley jumped two teeth. New cambelt and water pump and retimed and it was fine! Got very lucky I think!

Well, it ended up being the cambelt that was replaced 13 months ago (by the previous owner) was suspected to be overtightened. All the pulley's were seized, the baring had fallen out of the one pulley and that was the ticking noise I could hear. There's teeth missing on the cambelt, water pump...

I assume it was all OK (appart from the EGR fault code) prior to taking it to get the EGR/Cambelt/waterpump fixed? It sounds like something that probably relating to the work they did. Hopefully just something simple. I would be calling them to get it sorted.
