...get much worse.
The seal housing is plastic, from what I’ve read it’s too easy to distort it and squeeze out the RTV. Sump comes off to get the RTV seal.
I’ve not done it and probably won’t as my CFCA has a aluminuim housing, VW in their wisdom ‘engineered’ it in plastic on later engine variants.
I doubt any of those things will help prevent the cxeb from bore and piston wear, or turbo failure...
The previous cfca engine did however have EGR cooler problems pre revision D.
Thanks, yeah I guess I'll try that first. I'm just thinking that it'll always have a cfca engine so do people even buy them now or is it such a well known problem nowadays that no one will touch it. Will I even be able to sell it after putting a new engine in it or then have to keep it and hope...

As per link here are some Darkside Developments T5 T6 EGR cooler blanking plates for 2.0 bitdi 180 CFCA used on my engine for a few months. All good re useable condition as...
...oil cooler. But now I realised that my head has slightly problem though I still enjoy driving like that. I could have enough time to prepare CFCA engine rebuild. Anyway I paid about 70 for hose and cover plate and 130(?) for Amarok oil cooler. Also extra oil cooler for 200. Quite budget but...
you have a CFCA engine.
and a REV-A cooler.
that will destroy your engine. !!! - as per the problem with CFCA engines and coolers pre-RevD
as @mmi says. . .
you need to replace that EGR cooler immediately with the newer REV-D or newer version.
if you dont it will destroy you...
Hi all,
Looking for a bit of guidance (or confirmation).
I've had my van for less than 6 months. 2.0 BiTdi with 145k on it now (139k iirc when purchased). I had the oil sampled after 650 miles as the dealer said they serviced it so I had to wait for a 'good' sample. Results came back fine on...
I've just carried out a search (top right of the screen) of "CAUU" and the one result I got was your post, so I'd suggest that if anybody did it they haven't used that engine code on the forum.
Let us know if you do it!
I don’t have access to the CXFA manual but the balance shaft locking tool for my CFCA is part # T10255 and is widely available, I suspect it is the same tool for your CXFA but obviously you would need to confirm, a quick phone call to VW Parts Dept will tell you.
Don’t buy from VW, far cheaper...
I've just replaced the EGR value and cooler on a 2016 180hp T6 and found the below link very useful
https://www.t6forum.com/threads/guide-replacing-egr-cooler-on-a-180ps-engine.15713/
Now there's one or two small things that might assist anyone else thinking of doing the same. I tried my best...
