Only you can decide if it is worth it, but I have changed the diff oil three times now - I do it every 3 years when I service the Haldex, and it has never been a problem. I didn't like the idea of the oil having gone through however many miles and use cycles, so to me the potential benefits...
done a bit of digging in the workshop manual
looking at the gearbox side there's a shaft seal
And at the belt pulley side there's another crank shaft oilseal
The mechanic isn't back in until Monday so can't yet confirm what he's snagged as leaking
Hi,
Well being the new owner of a 2019 T6 Shuttle, 5speed with 41K on the clock, I knew it was time for a full service including oil and filters, cambelt & water pump kit, tensioner and aux belt in preparation for the next few years of travelling.
Closer inspection showed the crank seal was...
Hi Did you sort out the problem I have a similar issue with my vehicle the same year, with the 204 engine I did a crankshaft oilseal cam belt change DSG oil, and filter change, and started the engine and all was fine it ran smooth and revved well Until I changed the number 2 glow plug and now...
Hi all,
Got a query on how part of the intake assembly should be sealed please... This is a CFCA engine (and nothing to do with the CFCA issues that abound).
I noticed that I was getting some oil spray in the engine and found that it is because on boost there is a pretty decent air leak where...
well, so its defiantly DSG oil.
so the suggestion was:
to check the bolts are tight, - 20nm + 45deg - all ok
check the EGR cooler work history to confirm new seals were fitted to the DSG cooler - they were
clean up the oil and check for additional leaking.
so after a clean up and...
Hi there, I have a leak on my T6 2.0 102bhp engine, I looked underneath and it’s coming from the crank case oilseal, also I had my cam belt and water pump done (year and half ago) does any one know a good Vw specialist garage in and around Cardiff area please
Good evening everyone! I have a T6 2017 with 60k, got a couple of faults that I have picked up, oil leak from crank seal and sign of leak on front EGR pipe. Good news is that the warranty company are agreeing to cover the crank seal and labour. They have however said that any associated parts...
So just the crank seal and sump seal....
Re using the same belt... Leaving the tensioners....
I wonder if they are using new oil and filter, or just refilling same oil...
£1k seems the average price, but we see loads of variables as to what you get for your money.
Reluctantly I’ve got to sell my van, only had it 6 weeks but a change in personal circumstances means it sadly has to go.
148,000 miles.
Has full documented service history.
This week has just had the front crank seal replaced, including full cambelt and water pump and oil change.
Gearbox oil...
...a bit of an oil leak … was sue for a service anyway , so got my local VW to have a look at it . Turns out it’s leaking form the crank case oilseal …. This a common issue ?
Also I was told that the ‘ all in vw extended warranty’ doesn’t cover oil leaks !!!
Luckily for me the branch phoned...
Hi @Bigsidavies make sure you get the timing belt replaced when the seal is replaced as the oil contaminates the belt causing it to disintegrate causing failure. My friends garage is seeing this happen all the time, even on engine with millage as low as 50k. What’s the mileage on yours?
Have you read the link from MMI above in relation to the oil pressure changeover valve?
I had the coil light and the oil pressure switch fault. Changed both oil pressure switches and fault still remained.
The changeover valve failed the VCDS test and after having that replaced I've had no...
Sherwood Center Parcs for the kids annual Winter Wonderland, because if you are going to pay through the nose to run a van why not pay through the nose to holiday too?! o_O (Had the crank oilseal done last week and still getting over it!)
