    Oil pump belt

This is even more worrying. Every second? How often do you need to change a timing belt? On the cars I had with a timing belt, I don't remember having changed it more than once, usually at 160k km/ 100k mi.

    Buying advice. 2023 BiTDI.

Correct an easy and cheap fix. Many things on the CFCA are better engineered than the later BiTurbos, it has aluminium crank seal housings for a start and an air cooled charge cooler instead of the overhead sprinkler system that’s been created with the water cooled charge cooler on the later models.

    Oil leak but from where?

...is coming from, I'm thinking either clutch seal side or the front of sump join. I guess if I dropped the sump and could re-seal and then also see if oil is coming from the crankshaft oil seal as the sump removal exposes some of the flywheel area? Oil appears to come from somewhere in the...

    Eye watering costs

Just had my van serviced at 49500 miles. One major service left of an All-in package which I had to use, even though it’s not due until 66,000 miles. Front pads 50% worn, rear 70% worn £272.04 - I think that is front pad replacement. Rear disks worn (lip on discs) £475.08 (includes pads) Oil...

    Rear main seal replacement?

I'd agree, there doesn't look like there's any oil around the seal. My 2017 CXEB DSG had oil leak fixed under warranty back in the day that was leaking through the bolts. It was quite a leak leaving a small pool when stopped each time. That was fixed with new bolts/sealer and has been fine ever...

    CXHA oil pan removal

Just done the front oil seal and sump on my T6 CXHA engine. As with @Led Sandwich I used a long ball ended Allen key to get to the sump bolts by the flywheel With getting the sump off, every millimeter counts, I slackened off the front, right and rear engine mounting bolts and pulled the...

Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

The front sealing flange for the crankshaft on CX** engines is a common problem - oil leak starts around 100-120k km. When changing cambelt kit - ask to get the sealing flange changed as well. It won't add much labor as most of the necessary parts will be removed anyway. CXGB is your engine...

Big leak (update to previous thread)

After I changed my intercooler, the rubber seals in the pipes were not seated properly. This lead to lots of oil at the front of the engine as oil mist would blow out under boost. It wasn't enough to trigger a low oil warning so I'm sure that the volume of oil was not a concern. It did make a...

Are all main dealers full of S*!T?

Yes to your question. Recently said I had a leaking NS seal, gearbox side. £703 to fix. Took it to Tamworth Transporters HQ and Martin ( a mate of mine ) got underneath and said ‘ that is not fkn leaking at all ‘. Shoved some gearbox oil under my nose and said you’d be smelling that if it was ‘...

Should I replace timing belt and water pump at 43,000 miles and 8 years old?- VW say no.

Aah I see now. It includes a full service and crank pulley oil seal. Probably not far off what I'd expect to have to pay. Certainly the service is a similar price. Not had the timing belt/water pump done in my ownership.

Potential Van Purchase, how worried should i be about MOT advisories

You may have seen these posts https://www.t6forum.com/search/8992683/?q=Front+crankshaft+oil+seal.&o=relevance When not if, I think. Shock absorbers advisory seems fairly common now (and misting is normal). I understand it will not fail MOT until fluid is dripping onto the floor. Still you...

Fault code 07144 remains after changing intercooler.

Was going to say, I bet it was one of the intercooler hoses.. especially when you posted about a whooshing noise. Best advise would be; Lubricate the seal with engine oil (just a good coating, don't need to go mad) Long flat screw driver to push the hose into the intercooler using lip of the...

Snow: fold Mirrors in or leave out?

I also use silicone oil spray on door seals to dispel water and diminish the risks of freezing and jammed doors. Good idea about inference of mirrors and body.

    Broken springs:

Yes that is very annoying and one of the bad things about the all in plan. They say the oil leaks are not covered, and the crankshaft main seal is considered an oil leak so not covered. It is however covered under the 3 years manufacturer warranty, and also the extended factory warranty for...
