    Crank case oil seal

Morning. I have a 2019 T6 (one of the last before the arrival of the 6.1 I suspect). The crankcase oil seal is leaking, and it's not covered under the extended warranty (although it was booked in as a warranty claim). I spoke to a local independent VW specialist who said that if it's not...

Crank case seal replacement - cam belt off?

So got a hefty quote for a few things on the van whilst in for MOT and service. Mainly for the DMF but might as well do as much as possible whilst it's all off. An unforeseen cost is there's an oil leak at the crank seal. The mechanic says he'll need to take the timing belt off to replace it...

    Masses of white smoke

...hear. White smoke is usually coolant in the exhaust. You don't say when you bought the van, just "it's new to me". If it is very new to you I would return it and find another. If not my guess is as it had a "new cam belt and water pump and crank case seal" fitted that is where the problem lies.

    Oil leak but from where?

Could it be coming from higher up...crank case seal?

    DSG Driveshaft Seal Leak

Almost a year to the day since having my gearbox stripped and repaired due to the spider gear spline failure I have noticed a leak at the driveshaft seal for the drivers (longer) driveshaft. I will speak to the company that repaired the gearbox on Tuesday and hopefully they will sort it...

Crank case oil seal leak ?

Poking around the T6 the other day and noticed a bit of an oil leak … was sue for a service anyway , so got my local VW to have a look at it . Turns out it’s leaking form the crank case oil seal …. This a common issue ? Also I was told that the ‘ all in vw extended warranty’ doesn’t cover oil...

Crank pulley not spinning exactly on axis. Slightly off?

Still the same! I’m planning on doing the crank seal slight weep of oil…timing kit and replacing the gear in case it’s a bit worn. One thing I did notice is the timing tensioner seems to move slightly not whilst running but if you check day to day it definitely shift a few mm which is a concern...

Oil leak (timing belt and water pump change)

had similar issues when I picked up a 2019 t6. privately with 1 year left of all in plan. Thought I would be fully covered but alas not really re crank case oil seal - common issue not covered by warranty. I kicked off with vw customer care as full MD service history and known fault (the oild...

T6 front crankshaft oil seal leak (or something else?)

Update, it was a cracked or split crank seal which I've now had done along with a new timing belt kit etc and new MOT. So next issue is the reversing camera and sensors work sometimes and other times not so well. By that I mean like today for example when I got in and started it with the dash...

    Timing belt change

check your crank case oil seal is still ok if not a good one to do at the same time and obviously changing the water pump with timing belt is a no brainer

    Crank seal replacement

The seal housing is plastic with all the stability of a Blue Peter project. My 2016 CFCA seal housing is aluminium, obviously that was too expensive to produce?!

    Timing belt change

Will do all the above cheers, I’m a decorator and know zilch about engines, if my display says do this or that I just get it done

    MOT history

Broken springs = common and been rectified (would probably check both had been replaced!) Front Oil Leak = probably crank case oil seal, known issue, mine was the same. Now MOT item and unlikely to be excessive. expensive repair though Rear brake wearing thin .... just a warning to monitor. mine...

    Crank seal replacement

The crank case oil seal, according to the dealership, has apparently been slightly re-designed by VW multiple times and there are a number of part numbers since the original iteration. They are well aware of the failure rate and usually have the parts in stock. If you are prepared to have a bit...

Oil Catch Can For Euro 6 Engines

ref the comments about catch cans with filters - personally I wouldn't fit one with a filter as that can lead to increased crank case pressure and leaking seals, inc the main seal

    Masses of white smoke

...is a new to me Kombi LWB 4motion, 150PS. It had an "EGR fault" fixed last week at the same time as a new cam belt and water pump and crank case seal. Has done around 50,000 miles. Since getting it back (apart from the time I drove it home!) it has been blowing insane amounts of slightly...

Workshop Manual - Crank Seal Replacement

Hi guys, I have a leaking crank case oil seal (timing belt side) - is there a link to a VW workshop manual somewhere detailing the procedure to replace? Garage are concerned it may be Teflon and require an expensive installation tool so advised I’d ask here. I should add I’m not losing much oil...

    Crank Case Seal Replacement

T6.1 New seal for crank case discovered at 20.000 service and oil change. £1.052 pounds. 5 hour job. Fortunately inside warranty. How would you know if not for service inspection. No sensor light etc. Had a T5 for seven years not one problem. This T6.1 is like a high maintenance hooker.
