I reached out to PF Jones about this hitch as looking for one for the van - have a Thule bike rack from the US as prefer the way they hold the bike.
They told me that Westfalia are currently going through the process of being bought out, so they have no idea when stock will start reappearing.
I've had a Thule Wanderway 2 bike rack fitted on my T6 for the last 18 months. I use it several times a month for MTB/gravel events so I leave it fitted all the time, plus I don't have anywhere to store it when not on the van!
It has been brilliant.... however I've had two issues with them...
Morning Folks,
I cant seem to find a bike rack that will fit to a normal ball tow bar that can take 4 full suspension adult mountain bikes comfotabley. Looking on the net I've found the Velocirax which can take up to 7 bikes with out spending hours finding the best order to mount the bikes on...
We are a family of seven (five kids) with seven bikes to transport. I have searched everywhere trying to ascertain whether I could fit a Tailgate bike rack (to fit the larger 4 bikes) and a second bike carrier on the T6 towbar (to carry the three smallest bikes) to carry all seven bikes at once...
Busy Weekend...
New bracket on the stealth flap, fitted a Predator 4X4 front splitter, Thule Wanderway Bike rack and white tyre paint for the Falken Wildpeaks. Starting to look like I want now:
Hi, Not the Fiamma bike rack for barn doors unfortunately, my conversion guys told me it was a choice between a spoiler or a bike rack. I never questioned them so I don't know if anyone else has another option. I've posted some photos, you can see the top attachments of the bike rack sit flush...
My Mrs has finally persuaded me that we need to buy electric bikes. We only ever cycle together when we're away on road trips but I'm a long standing road cyclist and she knows that I really get the hump when we we're out together and I either have to [really] slow down or race off into the...
Yes, our barn door van came with the Fiamma hang on cycle carrier but it can only take two fairly narrow fairly short bikes. No good for modern MTBs.
We had a Westfalia removable towbar fitted for the same price a tailgate bike rack costs. Obviously we then had the expense of adding a cycle...
Posted elsewhere but kindly signposted here. (Thank you). Sourced a bike rack for a decent price. But the quotes to ship are daft (400+). I’m in Merseyside, item is just north of Newcastle. Any one have any jaunts that may help bridge that distance not trying to be cheeky, happy to contribute £...
Hi Folks, for sale my OEM tailgate bike rack.
In perfect working order, all 4 arms in good working order ( only 3 shown in the photo), + Keys. Bought it new in July 2023. Not used much since.
Based in Glasgow. 400 Squid.
I’m potentially looking at getting a tailgate bike rack; either the VW ver. 1 or the Thule WanderWay 4.
VW ver. 2 might possibly foul the pop top so discounted that one.
Of most interest to me, is how far they protrude from the van when folded up in their stowed position as I have limited space...
For one reason or another (mostly due to fixing a light issue for the sum of £2k) I never got round to this. I changed mt bike rack from the door hung to towbar too. I've been out on my board a few times last few weeks and carrying them (3 boards) inside is very very annoying.
Has anyone...
We used to carry a couple of folding e-bikes inside our van. Worked for a while but really was just a stop gap until we had a towbar bike rack fitted. Now we can use our full size e-bikes. So much better.
Just sold my van, purchaser did not want the rack, so I have a nearly new (used for one trip), four bike V1 rack with official VW upgraded struts. £400. Pick up ideally although can meet halfway if required
It is possible, for some, to transport a dirtbike on a towbar rack. I see it regularly enough. Not on a T6 though, the bikes are always inside of course. Dave Cooper BikeRacks
Hi, how are you getting on with the bike rack? I've been looking at the Atera Genio Pro Advanced for our tailgate T6 but I have some pros and cons still:
Pros: we already have a towbar fitted; I will generally only carry one bike and maybe occasionally a second for a mate; I like that it's low...
