Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Just got back from a weekend in Yorkshire, staying at Moor End Farm campsite at the top end of the village of Acaster Malbis. Went there in order to visit family friends who live at the opposite end of the village.

Camp site is not very large, a couple of grass fields either side of the entrance road, no hard pitches. Small but clean and tidy facilities block and picnic benches scattered around.

Was all caravans apart from us, and there were a few static caravans on site as well. The road past the entrance is a minor one and very quiet all round.

Things I liked were that the showers were proper ones, not a fixed head and timed push-button but one you can unhook that keeps going until you want to turn it off. Also the elsan disposal point that is an old toilet concreted into the ground... very effective! The washing-up area had a fridge/freezer and microwave for the use of guests and they have a washing machine and dryer as well, I think these were coin-operated, didn't look too closely.

Staff were very nice, they were ok with us arriving late as other things going on with us on the Friday meant it was 10pm by the time we got there.

The village itself was a mixture of old and new, very traditional mainly at the southern end with a lot of newish very expensive looking houses closer to the campsite. The village pub (The Ship) was very good and from the nearby river a riverbus operated into York itself. We didn't have the opportunity to try this though.

Lovely relaxing weekend, got to visit our friends, and it didn't rain at all.

We used to do dog training near Acaster Malbis. Very interesting area with an old airfield......last time I was there was to attend a Transit on fire in an abandoned RAF building. Turned out to be used in a cashpoint rip-out with a nice big hole in the roof.....

Popped over to MK on an errand.

Arrived back to find the van mid regen. Normally id zip round the block until its finished, but I was desperate for a wazz so parked up and legged it inside before my catheter exploded.

Next journey I'm due is a 110 mile jaunt so it can have another go at the regen then.

First trial of our new mini porch awning also from someone on the forum. Was missing guy lines but had some in the peg bag. Loks
Like it’ll do the job of keeping the rain out when we open the door

Bank House Farm?

Good site, great walking, lovely to fall asleep with the sound of the stream behind you, and good beer just a short stroll away!

Just back from long weekend stay at Camping & Caravan club Bridlington site. Spotlessly clean site and shower/loo blocks. Really peaceful place apart from resident owl hooting which was nice. Only negative was a phone call from the site at 2.30pm yesterday whilst stuffing my chops at the Martonian inn nearby asking if we'd left a day early. He told me someone else had pinched our pitch because it was vacant and had no cone saving it for our return. I explained there was no cone to save the pitch as it'd vanished since our arrival. Oh yes was the reply...we take the cones away once you've arrived on the first day.......eeeeerm 🤔 so how do we mark our pitch is still in use ??? A slightly flawed way to allocate a pitch. Well as your pitch is taken and we don't want to upset them now they're parked even though we gave them an empty pitch number to use we'll just move you instead 🤣😂🤣 because we're not bothered about pissing you off 😂🤣😂🤣 Still a nice site though. Just bring your own cone 👍👍

Ps lots of transporters out over the weekend. Couple of waves too 🥳🎉
