Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Its the Faros low and attaches to an awning rail.

That said there are a load of straps etc in the bag that I’ve no idea what they are for!

You wouldn't like it here as it's actually too hot, while looking for our platform at Gare St.Jean Bordeaux back to the campsite in Arcachon one of the station workers asked us if we needed water as I looked like a salami and the wife looked like she had escaped from a sauna... 35 C and no breeze.

Very true, it stopped drizzling and we walked to and from the pub in the dry and had proper beer, something I’ll miss on our European trip in 2 weeks!

Just got back from 5 days in and around Pwllheli. Drove up from South Wales and loved every second of the journey each way, plus the daily visits to various beaches with the Wife, Son and our Labrador.

We stayed in a farmhouse on a working farm, but this was the first trial of this type of holiday in the UK for the 4 of us. Definitely a hit and wish I had been able to buy a van to do this years ago.

Just cleared my bill for the onsite metered electric, as it was 0.5 units @29p a unit I wasn’t charged :p
Bit gutted as when we booked there wasn't a no EHU option so I've been fully off grid more as an experiment than a requirement.
Using the EHU here at Lourdes however as her in drawers dug her heels in and wants a fully shaded pitch and bollards to the solar🤕... it's 35C again. 🤓
Anyway 5 nights with no running the engine so solar only and this morning before leaving Arcachon was 71% full at 163A left in the Roamer....
Stop press, we've been here an hour and the gal from reception has just come to tell us there's now a power cut across the whole region, this will challenge things... sunny pitch, messy divorce or second no EHU endurance test? :geek: 🤪
Camping La Forete, Lourdes...

Just back from a weekend in the lakes with a few friends. Hiked up Scafell Pike yesterday in pretty atrocious conditions. High winds, non stop rain, streams were raging torrents to be crossed and 20 m visibiity. Despite decent kit everything and everybody was totally soaked to the skin.
I'll post some pics if my wet iphone comes back to life.
Can't beat returning to the van and having a brew and space to get changed followed by beers and a BBQ.

Well so much for the excitement of another wild camping bench test... yes, there are showers, toilets, dish washing, laundry, a bistro and a bus service into Lourdes 3 Kms away but in a cruel twist of fate not only is the site electric back up and running now but their hookup sockets are a weird 10A three pin arrangement with a fixed sticking out earth pin.
I was a sparky in Victorian times and I've never seen one like it, maybe a Reyrolle from the 70s, either way I'm stuck so the test is on but we're going to be cooking with gas and saving the electric for the fridge, my hair straightener  and John Corby trouser press.
In other news that's us hiding in the shadow of Mt Blanc... bottom right hand corner... with the shaded solar panels.🤪

We did helvellyn and striding edge last time we went , atrocious conditions, fell off a rock on the way up and filled my boot full of ice cold stream water 😩
Took an age to get back to base and then realised that the bunnies had eaten half our food stash while we'd been away .
Got in , sat down and necked 3 cans of Stella before I was sociable enough to talk to anyone . 🤣
