Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had a stroke in 2017 which knocked out my right side, and although I was out of hospital within a few days, I recieved physio at home for the next 3 months. Not been anywhere in mine. Currently sat in a roasting hot hospital ward recovering from a stroke, so won't be driving my van anywhere for at least a month.
I physically couldn't drive after one month, as my right arm and hand wouldn't obey instructions, and I was at the point where I would have had to surrender my license. Having read of the hoops people have to jump through to get it reinstated, I put it off, telling myself that because I wasn't actually attempting to drive, it wasn't a problem.
At the 6 week Post stroke mark, my hand and arm had enough control to make my first attempt, so after modifying the key to make it possible to actually start the engine, I practised just going backwards and forwards on the drive at home.
I even videoed myself doing this, and showed the result to my consultant, who was quite impressed at what I'd done, and gave me the OK to carry on.
Every stroke is different, as is every recovery. If you have a good care team, and do everything they say, and a bit more on top of that, all things are possible.... even if it doesn't feel like it.
