Where Can I Locate Compressor On Fridge

I'm looking to build a compact kitchen pod which will have a Vitrifrigo C47 fridge in the bottom, the compressor is detachable from the rear and it reads that it can be used on either side, is there any reason why I can't use it above the main unit if the coil and pipework allow?
This fitting would work much better for me if it were possible.

Dunno about that specific fridge, but our slide out isotherm fridge has the compressor mounted to one side in the void between the underside of the hob & the side of the van. This allows us to go up a size in fridge capacity whilst still keeping the depth down, if that makes sense. I.e a

Question I suppose is can I mount compressor above fridge as opposed to level with rear/side. Any refrigerator engineers out there?

Won't you have an issue with the lubricant not draining back to the compressor if it is mounted higher than the evaporator?

Compressor lubricant should only enter the refrigerant circuit if the compressor is tilted too far. If this happens in a domestic fridge (during transport for example) you need to leave the unit upright for at least 8 hours so the lubricant can drain back in.

Isotherm have a range of marine/camper fridges with the option of remote compressors (up to about 4 feet from cabinet) and they will tolerate a tilt of +/- 30 degrees. The compressor includes a protection sensor that cuts off the compressor it it tilts is over this angle to prevent lubricant escaping.

Not sure about your specific unit so you should check with the manufactures if this installation data is not readily available.
