My new ride (non VW) came with this, made by AL-KO. I don't have a clue what it's for but hoping I could use or adapt it to accept a towball for my bike rack. Any suggestion ?

I've had a suggestion it's some sort of quick release towball arrangement, Alko have given me a part number of
261641 and referred me to Horizon Global Germany GmbH.
