What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

I fitted mine a couple of days ago! Bit frustrated as one side has worked beautifully (tested by a huge dousing followed by blowing the water away with a car dryer/blower thing), but the other side wasn’t quite as successful…..reason being, I think, is due to the corrosion that had formed in the rubber seal channel on that slider. Still far better than it was, but will deal with/repair it accordingly.

I purchased directly from his website and used the code Matt10 for 10% off. Total was £77 including delivery & arrived in about 5 days (sent from Germany).

Overall a really good fix, but check the frame is in good condition first.

Thanks for the feedback mark:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

A bit xenophobic for a squeaky clean Forum Moderator don’t you think?
Sqeaky clean is not something I've ever aspired to be, but the drivers I referred to are British, which makes a nonesense of any claim of xenophobia.

I refitted my windows yesterday, leaving them open on the 1st notch, so to let the silicone dry off.

I closed them fully last night, they where a tight fit to close”due to the over sized seal”, I reopened them to make sure the seal was still sat in the seal track in the corners, which they where, I then closed them again.

I will leave them closed now for a week, as per Matthew Navis’s instructions, and I will wait for nature to test them, as that’s how they leaked anyway.

I will report back to here with the results.

Fitted my ‘safari style’ awning from ‘Tent and Trail’ with the help of owner Chris. Awning is really low profile, really well engineered with some great features, and (I thought) very competitively priced. Super pleased and compliments the ARB Base Rack perfectly (in my eyes). Can wholeheartedly recommend ‘Tent and Trail’ if anyone is considering such an awning or a roof tent. Chris helps design and tweak his own product range and sources suppliers himself. Really great independent business, and super helpful. We used specific ARB Awning Brackets, but Chris does supply his own too.

Hi @Vinyl1210 I’d never heard of tent and trail. How are you finding your awning? I was searching arb on here and came across your post. The awning looks cheap to purchase. I wonder what it would be like mounted onto the van? We don’t have roof rack as we have a pop top.

Glovebox was still rattling and doing my head in, but it seemed to go away by pressing in on the door. Taken it off and applied pads to any contact points and fabric tape. Then noticed there is play in the plastic pins on the hinge. So replaced with M8 bolts, added a single plastic washer and tightened. Seems more solid now and less rattling 💪🏼. Will flock it next i think!

Did you overlap the carpet on this or cut to the edge as mine now touches the wheel arch when opening side door.
I cut to edge as I found a thread on here saying that’s what needed to be done. Just hoping the edge retains its grip in the fabric

The awning is great and I’ve had no issues. Don’t be fooled by the reasonable’ price. Very well engineered and a doddle to use. Agree, I’m not sure how you would fit with a pop top but I’m sure there will be a solution.

Got this on and wiring into the van. Just got to wire from headunit and run cabling to the back where it comes into the van. Wire from the camera was only just long enough to go from its fitted position to inside the van by the rear light!! 😲IMG_2035.webp

Thanks @Vinyl1210 I’ve messaged them. I’ll see what they come back with.

So at the weekend I addressed something that has been bothering me.

Since changing the Devonports for 17" Steelies and Falken Wildpeak 235/65/17 tyres, I've not been comfortable with a 215/60/R17 as the underslung spare wheel. So, a few weeks back I purchased a Bridgestone Ecopia 235/65 R17 AT tyre to use as the spare.

Before cleaning up the spare steelie and fitting the tyre, I wanted to check it actually fit in the cradle without any modifications. I'm pleased to confirm thati t does. Heres a video I made of how to adjust the Bracket and get it in there:

I got a reply from Chris today to my email. He’s been really helpful and the value of the product is exceptional. They do brackets to mount the awning with the vamoose rail we have fitted. They’ll fit the awning while you wait as well for a bargain price. An altogether compelling option. Thanks for the tip off. If I’d have not seen your post I’d likely of ended paying much more for a product that was no better. It’s a UK company too! 😃
