What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Finally got round to fixing the broken heater linkage which as many will know is an absolute pain the balls to extract, fettle with the replacement part from @romeorowe and then refit. Didn't help that I moronically trapped my index finger in the van door on Saturday morning which proved to make the process harder still as there's a lot of gripping and twisting required with index finger and thumb.

As I've now no temp control after fitting (it's on cold) I think I need to find a way to perform the 'adapt door end stops' process to finish the job - can this only be done in VCDS or is it available in Carista/ODB11? Any pointers would be much appreciated. 🙏

Upgrade my 75Ah EFB+ battery for a 95Ah AGM battery and coded it with OBDeleven.
Setting the new capacity, manufacturer and serial number was pretty easy to do, however changing the type took longer than it should have done.

Battery Regulation (61) module >Long coding > Byte 2

The options I saw were

The battery can be replaced with a new one with different capacity and even different type. Just let the van know by using the VCDS.

VCDS - Module 61 - (Long) Adaptations - Channel 04. Hover the mouse over data fields to get the instructions what to type in (screenshot below).

Battery Type is defined in the Codings - Byte 02:

The check boxes for bit 4-7 confused me but using the post quoted above as a reference I kept unchecking and checking the boxes until the 2nd byte at the top changed to 1A and then the text changed as follows.

Great success

Spent yesterday and today (not all of both days!) fitting my new Forty Winks Kombi bed & mattress and the Vanshades which arrived after ordering at the NEC show. Very very pleased with both. Both things really simple to fit and chuffed with the results.....I'll add pictures later :)

After some black magic happening with things attached to my leisure battery, I got it checked out.
Dodgy earth, couple of new fuses, and some general housekeeping.

A week of electrical capers on the van, poptop up today to test the poptop cob strings to find only the first 4m of 2x 5m strings is working.
Phoned the supplier, Peter at SCR Distribution, no problem with replacing the string he says. I have a feeling they could well have got wet on their last outing..? Upwards rain must exist!
They are so effective, especially when working properly!

I’ve looked at the manual to see what the orange engine management light means that has come up today on the dash. Nothing definitive. Have to wait for my mate who has a code reader to see what the system thinks it is. Oh dear….😕
