What do I need if I have tow bar prep?

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been covered before, but if I specified the factory tow bar prep on my T6, the question is what kit do I need to get from PF Jones to make it all work? Will it need coding etc?

I'd ideally like a removable tow bar with full functionality just incase I ever have to tow a caravan or add a bike rack in the future.

Thanks in advance.

I just got a Westfalia removable tow bar fitted by a company. It wires into the vehicle systems, but does need coding via VCDS.

I am about to install the same. I would like also ask just to confirm, that no coding is required?

So when a trailer is hitched and connected the reverse sensor/camera system identifies the trailer is attached and the warning beep will automatically cancel out?

Then once the trailer is disconnected/removed the reverse warning system automatically reactivates and the beep warning returns as per normal when reversing without a trailer?

All that is required for the install if we have the factory tow prep is fit the the towbar and plug/wire in?

No coding is required but it’s not quite as simple and plug and play. You have to remove some of the wires from the PDC plug and add them into a different plug. You will need a terminal removal tool. Once fitted it will function exactly as you describe

Cool thanks. I worked on it today. Almost completed. Now just waiting on the wire terminal tool to arrive in the post, hopefully this week. Till then the plugs are just sitting inside the panel waiting.
