What, Biggest, Best Leisure Battery for under Passenger Bench . . . . . . . . ?

I've looked through a load of past posts and cant seem to find a definitive answer....

Whats the best, biggest battery that will fit on the OEM AUX battery tray under the passenger Bench (MY18 T6 sportline Transporter PV).

Im starting to think there might be a problem with the OEM MOLL EFB+ self draining itself.... but thats another story.

What have people managed to squeeze under there?

Travelvolts has been known to mention the XTREAM 110Ah AGM a lot but will it fit?

This is what we have now, minus the relay and fuse carrier as thats all been stripped out and replaced with a Redarc DC-DC.

I wanna go with AGM, and would like it to fit on the existing battery carrier plate as fitted OEM.

so what have we got guys? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Will a XTREAM 110Ah AGM fit?

Lets see yours . . . . =]

No help im afraid but next time your under there playing with the battery can i have the part number of the battery tray and if its not too much trouble a picture of the battery fixing method please

@Pauly yes of course.. maybe tomorrow...

I've got a AGM leisure battery i might try and fit as a temp for a few days to see if the battery is the issue.... or not. =)

Everyone does it differently @Dellmassive I'm in a similar position, trying to fit a leisure battery under each seat in front (two single seats) was hoping to use batteries from another vehicle I had but too big.

@travelvolts recommends the Xtream AGM as its AGM, therefore can be mounted on its side and no risk of leakage therefore is approx. 175mm high on its side. which obviously gives you more room.

@Dellmassive if it’s of any assistance I can send you the dimensions of my battery?

I’ve sold my bench now but I did try fitting the foam padding that came with my Xtreme 110A AGM battery and it didn’t fit when paced upright - I i didn’t try it on its side so can’t answer you there, but seem to recall that it didn’t like the battery length.

That would be great.. =)

Come on people, let's see those leisure battery pictures.......

I might need to find some inspiration from you all...

Not a T6 but this kinda thing...

Hey @Pauly

no part numbers on it, but here it is. The OEM Leisure battery tray fitted under the twin bench seat......its exactly the same as the last one on the T5.1

4 mounting points that are part of the seat base mounts.

The part number sticker maybe underneith it but i didnt have enough time to remove the tray . . . . . just a battery swap.

if you cant find the part number ill take the tray out another day.

Thats great mate, managed to find it from that picture
Just checked and that tray without and screws or fixings for battery is £144.49 !!
Think i will make something to do the job

you got me thinking now.......

i wonder if a second one would fit on the other 4 bolts on the other side?

Then i could have 2x leisure batts under the double bench?

seem that the max is looking to be 70/75Ah for the offical bracket bolt down.

the 110Ah batterys are looking too long.

but as you say the price is a bit rich . . . . tho they are made of thick steel...?

If you or anyone else is interested here the part numbers and retail prices

right, think im going to have a measure up for a second on on the other side,

then stick with 2x 70/75Ah AGMs as the leisure setup instead of the second one under the drivers seat.

That would be great.. =)

Sorry for the delay - I forgot to measure before going aaay for the weekend, but found this on a message I sent someone selling a single-seat base:

L 350mm W 174mm H 190mm

The base has a champhered edge that makes it sit a little wide for the OEM single-seat base tray.. it looks like it could be trimmed away, mind.

I’ll double-check measurements when I’m back home

My method of fitting a battery under a single seat box is to use a modified version of the one that the engine battery sits on part number 7H0 805 283 F (Part number corrected. Rod). Cut the tabs off that stick up and drill an extra hole so that it will bolt down on the seat box bolts between the floor and the box. Add the standard clamp plate and bolt to complete the job.

That tray, clamp and bolt should be less that £35 and it is THICK steel.

That part number was WRONG I must have been dreaming!! It should be 7H0 805 283F(or maybe a later variant can be used).

Sorry.

So based on the above part the list price and part numbers would be

Its worth noting that the battery tray part number supersedes from 7H0805283F to 7E0804781

@Pauly that is not the part that I use! Check the part number, it's described by VW as a 'Console' I guess that's something lost in translation.

I think the clamp is OK although there are a number of different ones the basic Golf one does the job. I've plenty of bolts in the garage so never order one.

Pictures here

Yet again translation is dubious calling it a box???
