What are my options to maximise internal headroom when sitting on Rusty Lee 3/4 recliner bed?

A question for the tall people out there... or people with big hats! 😆 I've sat in the back of a few T6 tin-top conversions, and the headroom is really cramped. We're not planning on adding a poptop. So my question is, how can we retain as much headroom in the back as possible for when sitting on a Rusty Lee 3/4 recliner bed?

The plan currently is:
  • 12mm ply flooring with 3mm Altro lino
  • 3.5mm ply ceiling with 4mm carpet lining
I'm not sure if any of these are good ideas, but could I:
  • Have the Rusty Lee bed fitted to the metal floor of the van, and the ply around it once fitted?
  • Or use 9mm ply (instead of 12mm) for the flooring instead?
  • Not have ceiling plywood board at all, and just insulate and carpet line the metal ceiling?
  • Anyone done anything else to help?
Cheers
