West Coast Of France

Hi,
We're heading to France in a couple of days and intend to try to wild camp around the La Rochelle/Bordeaux area, Cote Savage.
Has anyone any recommendations to make, ideally with beach access? Or reasonably priced camp sites?
Cheers guys.

Hi @Andrew Wilkinson I've done that coast loads of times and for weeks at a time. The stretch of road from St Palais all along to Cote Savage next to the beach is full of camper vans from French, English & lots of Dutch. Most are there for days and days with no issues.
If you want a campsite that is well run and just a few minutes from the beach I would recommend the site at St Augustine, Christian and his family run a great site, it's a bit "Mini England" but all friendly and relaxed with great pools.

Enjoy it's a lovely stretch of France

Thanks for the quick replies. Stunning pic!
We're really looking forward to the trip and your replies give us a couple of site options if the wild camping turns out not to be on for some reason.
Cheers

We've just left La Grainetiere site 2 days ago...... full bit still great place. Easy walk into La Flotte with great market and great restaurants. Easy cycle to St Martin ...bit busier and more commercialised.
Lots of Aire to stop off at at some wild camping on outskirts of main towns.
We've headed 100 km north 2 days ago..... hugged the coast and again lots of Aire s .
We did Biarritz and Bordeaux last year and there was lots of stop and stay vans parked up esp along the coast by La Dune de Pilat.

Bonnes vacances mes amis

I left one of my awning pegs in the ground at La Grainetiere, and forgot to ask you to see if it was still there...

Ha ha:rofl:

Which pitch were you on? I did stub my toe on a journey to the facilities !!!

Some pitches were much better....we were on no 16 which was great but some big vans were trying to squeeze onto some quite small pitches.

Great location though
