Welcome new members

Hi Badjamin, hi Kind of Blue, thank you for the warm welcome. @Kind of Blue, I like to venture off the beaten track, and in Eastern Europe, a little extra wading depth is sometimes welcome. Installing the snorkel requires some experience with sheet metal work—and a bit of courage to cut such large holes in the metal body of a newer vehicle.
I used to participate on some German specific 4x4 vehicle German forum for a number of years. Although we do have some off road travel in some places in England and Wales covered by specific laws some of the tracks very good Eastern Europe and travel across the former soviet Union sort of silk road passages have always interested me. Many of the correspondent on some forum travel long distances off road and I am so envious. BREXIT and COVID have made things difficult in that respect passports insurances length of stay freedom of movement all passed willingly away. Still a snorkel is of interest to me some fords about but also flooding during the winter months. Floating away might better than drowning ones engine depending on spot. Travelling through floods no big deal in many 4x4, had a UNIMOG years ago complete with snorkel just went through chest high water like a breeze. The worst thing with the T6 is the should I shouldn’t I and just wondering as the water builds up in front how far off is it from dieseling / water locking ones engine £££££ I will most probably have it done for me if I find a suitable sales place that fits the snorkel. I think one near Aberystwyth might do that sort of thing or did. A mistake with the hole cutter or cutting mistake into the air-box might be expensive. Not a difficult thing but I understand that the instructions might be a little vague.

Hello all,

I've had my T6.1 for about 4 weeks now.
Always wanted a camper and originally wanted a bay window T2.
But as I've got older and things have moved on I decided to go for something more modern.

My other car is a 2004 Saab 9-5 estate.
So it's been a while since I have driven something with so many gadgets. My T6.1 is a highline so Adaptive Cruise Control is a new one on me, and at first a little unnerving.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.
If you see me out and about give us a wave, I will wave back 🙂

Love the potential poverty comment 😀
I have my fingers crossed, she's going to be as reliable as my Saab.
Owned that since 2008 and outside of a yearly service the only jobs I have had done is
2 new rear shocks after one leaked
Poly bushed everything.
Brake servo replacement after the old one sprung a leak, this year.

Popped in to say hello and thanks for having me. Not new to Transporters having owned a bay, T4 and a T5.1, but having been out of the game for nearly nine months after diesel runaway, now the owner of a 2019 T6. No doubt I will have questions, but hopefully the search function will answer most quesrions.

110% agree with that - my old Saab 9-3 Aero V6 Turbo, oooooooh what a car! 🤤
Best company car I ever had was a ragtop Saab, plenty of years ago! A veritable joy to drive! To balance it I occasionally had a C15 diesel Citroen van in the same employ... you win, you lose etc!

That’s some length of trailer Dockie.
Towing that won’t be easy.
But I bet the freedom of flying more than makes up for it.
madness the size in a picture! But tows so well one it’s all set up, balanced and the towing vehicle is set up right too!
Dead easy to tow! Just got to watch for the swing I’ve taken out one or two temporary road signs, fuel pumps and maybe a person with it!🤣🤣
Nothing compares to it! Here is a picture of Glastonbury for last year while they were setting up!
Milfield, home of the Borders Gliding Club is near me. Know it ?
yeah I do. I have some good friends who fly from there. Not been there yet myself but it’s on the list of places to go when I retire.

Hi all. I'm shortly (I hope!) to join the T6 world having spent the last 10 years driving a Volvo XC90. It's been a solid car that has done us proud but, having clocked up 208,000 miles, it's getting an expensive to keep on the road. The kids and dog aren't getting any smaller, and my wife seems to want to literally bring the kitchen sink when we go camping in Europe, and so a VW Transporter Shuttle is on the wish list. I've spent the past few weeks getting my head around the options out there and am viewing a couple of candidates this weekend (if they don't go before I get there!). Budget is £25k max, for which I've seen a good few 2018/19 SWB and LWB examples around with various engines / optional extras. Any advice on what to avoid / look for would be hugely welcome. Cheers all.

If you want the space (for the kitchen sink) I'd consider a LWB. If the mrs wants to bring everything in sight, the LWB will be the one for you. Engine wise, 150 is the sweetspot but nothing wrong with the 102. The 204................. that has quite a few failures reported on this forum so I suggest you have a read here - 204ps Bi-Turbo CXEB T6 Engine & Turbo problems -

I owned a 102 T6 converted camper for five years. Loaded up it was fine on motorways but a little tiresome to drive on A roads with any steep gradients, constantly changing gear. I then had it eco mapped which took it to around 130bhp and made it much more pleasurable to drive.
