Webasto vs Ebershpacher dry heater for Multivan T6

Hi friends,

I need your advice which heater to choose to install in my Miltivan. I need it only as additional heating at nights in the car. It is about Ebershpacher D2 or Webasto 2000.
Please, also advise whether I should need to install it inside or outside under the car. I do not have additional battery so my passenger seat has empty room below.

There is room under the drivers seat to install a D2 and a (relatively small) leisure battery if you wanted to get some more flexibility as to how you use the heater.

The research I have done has led me to the Webasto air top 2000 stc. I really wanted to go for Eber but the connectivity and control of the Webasto seems better. Options such as the multi control and T91 remote clinched it. Don't think there's any difference in heat output or efficiency. Mine being fitted next week by an authorised installer I have no idea where it will be installed. Hopefully out of sight

Not much in it. I went Eber because it was on offer at the time. Would have been just as happy with Webasto.

I install both Eberspacher and Webasto air and water heaters and couldn't say which I prefer, one thing is that Webasto heaters can have the fault memory reset without special equipment, whereas, you need a diagnostic reader or laptop to reset Eberspacher heaters. In a T6, the best place for an Eberspacher D2 is under the floor beneath the driver's seat, it saves room in the van and it is protected by the plastic undertray.

I only need mine for taking the chill off the van in the mornings or when parked up for short periods so don't have to keep the engine running. I haven't opted for a leisure battery, I presumed short usage should be ok. Comments would be welcomed.

With an 801 controller (maybe others) on an Eberspacher you can reset the fault memory, that controller also gives internal thermostatic control of the temperature via a built in sensor so switching the heater completely off when the desired temp is reached.

A Webasto air heater will also fit under the floor driver's side on the same bracket as the foot-print is the same I think.

As far as I am aware either type fail to run if the supply voltage is below a certain threshold so should not flatten the van battery. However I would always recommend fitting a leisure battery even if it is only connected via a simple split charge relay. See many threads on split charge on Bluemotion vehicles on this forum.

Hi,

Thank you for all advices. I am going to choose Webasto because of the dealer, He look more reliable. The cost here in BG is 1000 euro all included with simplest controller. Should I need controller with better functions?

I hope to have time on Monday this week so soon I will post some worm (may be some Hot) pictures......
