Warranty void!

What is exactly behind the rear view mirror shroud?

As I have replaced it with a Auto Vox dashcam. I have had no problems with the below faults for months.

•Engine stop start not working
•ACC not working
°Front assist not working

All not communicating with each other.

VW say you've changed the factory mirror so not covered under warranty.
They need to check the sensor.
What sensor is in that shroud that would effect the above?

VW ran a diagnostic £138! They couldn't or wouldn't tell me what sensor was defective if any. They'd also have to remove the bumper which is an LV bumper.

The price of a new van plus mods. All professionally installed. They're making excuses so the warranty becomes void.

Surely with their diagnostic machine they can tell what sensor is causing the communication between the above to be lost. None of the mods come into contact with sensors etc.

/there are sensors in the mirror shroud and the bumper. Would have thought you would have been getting constant warnings if the sensors were interfered with - but what do I know?

There is an autodip sensor there. I have a FitCamX camera there which is specific to the shroud type which gets around the issue.

The windscreen has the RLS

Rain, Light sensor.

For Auto lights, auto wipers , high beam assist.

And may have a camera if you have HBA, high beam assist.

The mirror electric are connected to the main BCM via LIN Bus cable.

So what did you remove?

Just replaced factory rear view mirror with auto vox. Great mirror with built in dashcam.
Am I being told the auto dim sensors etc will effect my front assist, ACC and engine stop start? They aren't communicating with each other so I'm not sure if anything mentioned in this thread is affiliated with my problem *scratches head*

Rubbish. I have the same rear view setup and my front assist and stop/start work fine as does my CC.

I've had no problems until beginning of May. I had to wait 3 months for a diagnostic. I have a Carista plug in what told me what they have told me. OK, so don't they know why they're not communicating with each other? All of a sudden a wire has popped off somewhere? No sensors have been touched. I'm sure unmodified vans have had the same problem

Exactly what VW are saying. Invoice attached. But Carista couldn't clear it. Mirror sensor. So there is a sensor in the mirror that is affiliated with the faults? When I fitted the mirror everything worked until months down the line.20250721_155146.webp

Can you go back to whoever installed the mirror and get them to sort it?
Is there a guarantee for their work?

I can see why removing a sensor might throw an error but it’s odd that you had it all working trouble free for a while first. Would suggest something had changed - as you say a loose wire or has the van had a software update at a service?

Many aftermarket electronic camera mirrors are provided with straps to strap over the exciting mirror. Not this particular set up then?

I installed the mirror/dashcam. It was easy. And I didn't disturb any wiring in the shroud. Everything worked fine. Until months late the central ⚠️ light appeared with 3 errors I've listed above on the dashboard.

How did you get power & video to the mirror? I ask because I had a problem with a van that someone had removed the RV mirror & disturbed the wiring for the RLS sensor which is behind the plastic cover in the roof, just above the mirror. It was a simple plug it back in job.
Of course, it might be a totally unrelated problem to the mirror.

Please share "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu)

I opted for the Auto Vox ‘strap on’ but did consider the replacement mirror version. Happily no problems with the strap on job.
