I have borrowed a set of ramps and intend to get under the van in the next couple of days to take a look at the pipework.
My installer has some time available in the next couple of weeks to take a look at- but my curiosity and hopefully satisfaction of fixing it myself wants me to get under there and see what’s going on!
If the Wallas was previously working and you haven’t disturbed anything under the van I don’t think the problem lies there.
First job is to measure the voltage at the electrical connection to the unit both before starting and during the start up phase.
Problem solved!
I took the van to my installer who found a split pipe on the outflow from the main tank.
The pipe had a slight bend in it due to its location. It had split on the bend.
Replaced with some braided pipe.
Not a quick fix as it involved dropping the diesel tank and I’m 3 months out of warranty, unfortunately.
But good news is that it’s working! Tea and coffee services have been restored!
I’ve done some testing with my Wallas and I believe I have a fix for the low voltage flame out issue on start up.
I have installed a 10.5v glow plug instead of the standard 12v glow plug, they’re not easy to find so I’m going to get some spares before I reveal the part number.
NGK 7493, best price is currently Autodoc, I haven’t found another European supplier.
First time start every time, slightly longer than the standard Wallas Beru glow plug but no issues as it clears the housing and the fuel needle.
