Vango awnings snagging on the door

Anyone else got a vango Awning, I've got the gali but looking to downgrade to the kela. The main issue I have with the gali and I believe it's the same is that the sliding door will get caught on the awning when you slide it open.

Just wondered if others have this issue and if there might be any solutions?

Multi rail, kador strip and figure 8's. Would seriously consider changing if it helped, have been looking at Thules Awning, a lot for this purpose alone but I'd definitely get use out of using the sun canopy for one nighters when there's just two of us.

Humm not sure really, then..the only thing that I could suggest is moving the arch supports closer to 'lift' the tunnel higher?

Sorry not much help I know, I have the same set up and didn't have this issue. I also use the Galli on the Fiamma which stands out further from the door.

Thanks pal, maybe having the wind out awning helps give you more clearance. Out of interest, do you the thanks awning on its own much?

No snags with the kela, as long as it’s positioned further towards the back of the van as it prevents the sliding door snag..

Thanks for the tip Davejo , I'll do a test run with the kela when I get it tomorrow.

I have only managed to use it a hand full of time since I bought it last year (for Bala) and think that it is great bit of kit, IMO I think that it is worth its value. I have had no issues with the airbags, packing or anything like that. I need to get a couple more items for it, ground sheet for one.
I use the Fiamma , the main reason for buying it, for work reasons. but have used the Vango on it and much as the Multirail. I would suggest a 'rain guard if you intend on using it for camping,

I have the Gali and use the Velcro strips to attach it to the van. I’ve had some near misses when opening the door. Snags every time.

I have the Kela III and attach via a Fiamma wind out. The only door snags I get are when I forget to loop the (redundant) Velcro straps out of the way.

Forewarned is Forearmed so thanks for the information.
I'm looking at a Galli compact and will attach via a rail in the channel. We regularly have a rail sail attached this way and had no issues, but when we go and view them I'll bear this in mind.

I've got a Galli and attach it in the same way as you. I find it only snags if I have the van too far back. If I roll the van forward a bit to give the awning a bit more room at the top of the sliding door then it seems to be ok

I have both a galli and a kela and both snag. If I move them further back they get caught in the door at the front when closing it. I just be careful. I've considered putting some duct tape on for reinforcement.

Firstly...I'm most definitely not a Vicky;)

I got the kela first, but I have so much crap it just wasn't big enough (there's only me and the child...don't ask), the gali is quite a bit bigger than the kela, just as easy to put up and take down, but takes a bit longer because there's more pegging points and it's heavier.

So, both have pros and cons...I connect with kador strip and figure of eight to a multirail.

Hi, Veema, how do you get on with the Kador strip and the figure of 8? As we find the strips come apart and the awning starts to try and slip off the rail.
Have you or any of the others have this problem? And how do you get round it?
Many thanks
T

Ours stays put in some pretty windy/rainy conditions. Sounds like you may not have enough tension in it?

We use it on the Fiamma canopy, excuse my ignorance but how would I put tension on it?
The guide ropes?
Could it be because the van isn’t level? As to be honest we haven’t used any levelling ramps so far o_O

Before you peg the awning down, connect the kadar piece, then pull the whole lot away from the van.
