Used Buying Advice

Hi there am new to the forum and am impressed with the amount of information available. I'm about to jump onboard fully and look to buy a T6 Kombi conversion.

I have found a second hand one with low mileage and a years warranty left. It is a conversion from van to Kombi.

My questions to the wise out there are:

1: am looking at a 103 BP which has been chipped to 140 should I be worried about this? Or should I look at the 150 models?
2: Are there any areas of concern that I should pay particular attention.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alan,
Nothing wrong with a re-map nowadays, and 103 to 140 is well within limits. A lot of guys on here, along with me are waiting for warranty end on their vans to do a re-map.
Find out what re-map it is. i.e Revo and Pendle are generally regarded as best.
We all have areas of concerns and wish vw went that little bit further with certain things, but if we didn't love em we wouldn't buy em, and spend so much time on here discussing.
You won't regret buying one, and you will fall in love with it. You would have to put the spec up or pictures for the guys to see, to comment, but if it feels right, then it generally is.

One thing to be aware of is that the smaller output engines come with a 5 speed gearbox where the bigger output engines (150 & 204) come with a 6 speed box, not a total deal breaker but if you spend a lot of time on the motorway 6th can certainly help

If its been converted from a van the most important thing to check is that the rear seats and seatbelts have been fitted correctly, whoever did the job should have fitted strengthening plates/brackets under the floor to bolt the seats through and also on the C pillar to fix the upper seatbelt bolts to, all reputable companies will know and do this but you still hear the odd story of places that dont so its always best to check and not take any chances of what could happen in an accident if not properly fitted
