Unwanted campsite bookings

Ok. So loads of people have been booking sites left, right, central which is great if they are going. But if they book and don't go they take the place of somebody that could and also the sites fees (if not prepaid) and indirect income from onsite purchases.

Understand if this thread gets no hits but wouldn't it be good if any unused bookings could be passed on to people who would use it and help keep sites up and running.

If nothing else I hope it prompts anybody with a booking that won't use it to let the campsite know!

The set up at The Caravan and Motorhome Club doesn’t help we’re it’s free to book and your able to cancel 72 hours before going leaving little time for others to rebook the pitch
Like you commented cancel as early as possible so everyone gets a chance of booking

What isn’t helping is the lack of clarity on what facilities will be open on campsites. There still isn’t a formal position from either of the main camping/caravanning clubs.
Also, we have a Welsh site booked for late April. We know currently that it will be open in late March, but only to the Welsh (we are in England). It could be quite late in the day before we get to know if we can cross the border, potentially leaving us having to cancel it at short notice.

We got told some people generally retired book a block of 4 weeks and pick and choose when they go ie it's raining next week we won't bother.
it might stop them if they had to pay a deposit
