Unknown roof console switch

Okay folks I am a newbie and I am currently at a lose end.

I have a switch in the roof console (see image circled)

And I can't seem to find out exactly what it is for or does. It looks to me as to be something to do with the sliding door but mine isn't electric.

Is this just a dummy switch fitted to vans with and without electric sliding doors?

Selects whether you want the interior lights to come on when the doors are opened.

Dooh!!

No wonder it's not doing anything when I sit in the van with all the doors shut.
