twin slider advice

Hi everyone! We are total newbies, to the Forum but also to T6's (although if feels like going back to my roots - we had a T2 camper growing up, and my very first motor was a (devastatingly rusty red/white) 1972 T2).

We are looking for a T6 to convert, and really like the notion of twin sliding doors, to enjoy the open air better by opening up the space. (Although obviously it dramatically reduces the choice of used/nearly new vehicles - so if anyone knows of any do let us know, we are based in Brighton).

Do any members have experience - good and bad - with twin sliding doors, advice in converting etc. We followed some threads on the forum last night and were guided to the EVO Design site which has been really helpful. Flatpack/self-project-managing seems like a much more affordable way to go than a full conversion by a specialist company.

We would like to create a kitchen design which would allow both indoor and outdoor cooking, either by making a pod that can be lifted out of the driver-side sliding door, or on some swivel or pull-out mechanism, potentially with a freestanding twin hob that can be lifted into different positions. We like the back door kitchen pods we've seen, but then we wouldn't be able to cook in bad weather inside the van. Anyone have any tips or advice on inside/outside kitchen design solutions?

Thanks so much in advance!

I am halfway through a twin slider camper conversion and am making a lift out pod with hob/sink in the top. The fridge will be in the rear unit. Mine is LWB. Some info in my build thread link below.
No photos yet as it’s not made, the rear unit is nearly done.
Not much out there for standard furniture in a twin slider and most of it has to be scribed to the C pillar.
CMC do a van called the Hembil Drift which has a swing out unit but it doesn’t lift out and is the wrong height and place to work with an awning.
Happy share ideas, it’s all home made.
Be warned making the furniture is taking me ages.

Hi , I have a twin slider and a fixed kitchen unit from evo design - couple of positives currently (very early days!)
- My fridge backs on to the drivers side door, and benefited from being able to open it during the super hot weekend
- I have access to my water filling point, Gas BBQ outlet and the back of the units for storage which helps a lot
- I can cook both sides of the van, and have the ability to get the air through with the door open
- I have space to store my steering wheel lock

This is the only pic I have at the moment, but could take a few more if that helps?

Thanks so much for these posts Farnorthsurfer and CtotheA, really helpful.
After consulting the wisdom of John our converter we have decided to not go for the double sliders. It is proving to be impossible to find a LWB/tailgate twin slider (or actually any twin slider), there just aren't any to choose from (and we can't afford a new one), and he has also alerted us to some problems that we hadn't considered - impact on wiring and ducting, cutouts losing width.

It is very true that there are many extra challenges to converting a twin slider and I would personally have settled for a single slider if I had found the right one. I am taking advantage of the twin doors but they were extra to the great spec I got along with 4Motion for the right price. Sure you will find a good van and enjoy the larger fridge you will be able to fit

thanks Farnorthsurfer, up at the crack this morning as am EXTREMELY EXCITED to be going to pick up a T6 PV today, whoop! Lots of challenges ahead which we are looking forward to navigating!
