Travel Setting on MFD Doesn't seem to work

Has anyone used the travel setting (tick box) on the MFD when travelling abroad? I thought that when ticking the box, the LED lights would move over to the right when driving abroad so as to conform with European regs.

I tried this a couple of times whilst in France but the lights didn't move an inch and so I'm wondering whether a) I have misunderstood what this function is for or b) that I haven't set it correctly.

Any ideas?

Tested mine facing a wall and the left one dropped a little.
