Wasn't the original attraction with the V3 the fact that the DRL doubles as a sequential indicator too?

I've long given up on gazing at my vehicles reflection in shop windows, there always seems to be a balding midget driving and that's hard to unsee.

I keep getting the same thing too! Not sure that’s covered by the warranty though

It's quite right that we don't get to see our own lights, but it's nice to know that they do look right. I met a van coming towards me the other day with some pretty sharp looking DRLs. As he got closer, I could see that he had the same V1's as me, so I'm happy.

I was concerned the indicators wouldn’t be very visible in bright sunshine but I have to say I haven’t had any issues. There are a couple of junctions and roundabouts where I have nervously approached worrying about this but i have to say on every occasion the cars approaching me obviously saw the indicators and gave way so I’m a little more relaxed that i was.

Sorry to resurrect a head light question again,

ready to commit to a headlight upgrade but so torn between the V3 and V2 style from HQ Transporter

Worried about the poor light quality of the V3 shared DRL/Indicator

How are the V3 owners finding them and any advice on best prices and places to buy

Cheers in advance

I have the V3’s and I’m fine with them. The look of them is different though so maybe consider which better meets your requirement aesthetically

Hi all. My van is booked in for new headlights, originally had v3 chrome ordered, but now swapped to V2 black (only those available) based on people's posts regarding the brightness.

Does anyone have a photo of how dull the v3 are, I am only concerned safety wise tbh.
Thanks

Have actually taken a few photos in the last couple of weeks... the first 3 are just as the sun was going down, and they look fab when its going dark and at night. The last one is outside work at about 6pm on a bright day, prob no more than 10 feet from front of van, and its a different story. I doubt you can see the DRL from distance, and I'm not really sure how visible the indicator is, so it is what it is.
Lets be honest, we buy them because we think the LED DRL looks cool, so I was a bit disappointed they were not a lot brighter. Would like to see them side by side with a V2 at some point.

Thank you. It's the indicator in sunlight that matters the most I guess. If someone can't see the van in sunlight without drls then......

Mmmmmm
Fitted my V3’s during lockdown so didn’t really get any driving time with apart from some trips around the block at night to marvel at the LED dips which are just amazing!
But here’s the rub......
On three occasions now I have been nearly sideswiped at roundabouts turning right where people have just not known I was going around. On each occasion it has been brilliant sunshine.
my gut feeling is that the LED indicators are just not bright enough. Put it this way, I never had anybody cut me up on the roundabout like this before.
the other thing that makes me suspect the indicators is on two of the occasions I was ‘beeped’ at, let’s be honest it’s what I would do if somebody wasn’t indicating on a roundabout.
I don’t know if anybody else has had this and I suspect it would’nt be the same for the V2’s as the DRL/Indicator is not opaque like the V3.
Overall though I would still recommend them, I’m waiting for the H1 LED main beam to be released and I will retrofit that to make it a complete LED setup

I am going to retro fit oem leds shortly and while i was researching headlights,i heard a few people say that they thought the indicators in the v3's were just not bright enough and verging on being dangerous when sunny which seems to be exactly your experience. I know everybody is different and they may or may not be your cup of tea but i have just fitted the dynamic indicators in the mirrors as have a few people on here and they may help with people being able to see that you are indicating when looking from the front of your van. Just a thought and i know you should not have to do anything like that but if it makes things a bit safer then it can not be a bad thing and to be fair, they do look nice too!

Like the sound of the repeaters Martin, can you post some pics and a link to where you purchased them from please . Cheers

I met a van with V3's coming towards me the other day. His DRLs were so dim, that I thought he must have switched to 'side' lights. When he'd gone past, I checked my mirror and saw that he had no tail lights on. So there you have it. The DRL brightness of the V3's really is that poor.

Hello @cowlsy ,if you do a search on here for dynamic indicators, you will see all the details there. They are audi q7 sequential indicators from ebay, not sure how to post links,i am a techno dinosaur!

No direct experience but looking at the pics and vid available I wouldn't use the v3.

I have the V3’s and I think they look great, however the drl and indicators are just terrible. Unless it’s dark you can hardly see them and there’s been a few times where people have gestured to me about not indicating when I have had them on.
The LED bulb upgrade was well worth it tho, I can actually see whilst driving at night now.
Wish I would have waited a while and been able to read the feedback on the V3’s, It would definitely have impacted my decision to buy them over the V2’s.

I do think that the v3’s look better than the v2’s personally but if people can’t see you indicating, then that is just plain dangerous
