I’ve ordered them with the Osram night breaker lamps, how do these compare with the HID you are discussing? (I assume they are a different thing)

I've got a set of H7 nightbreakers and just for my own curiosity I am going to fit one in the drivers side.

This will show a direct comparison against the 35w, 4300k HID in the other side.

I'll post up the pictures once I've done it.

Heres a couple of comparison shots.

Both pictures have a 35w 4300k HID in the left hand light.

The bittom image is a standard, Osram H7 bulb in the right light.

The top image is an Osram Nighbreaker H7 bulb.

This is only 1.1 meters from the inside of my garage door, but does seem to highlight the difference quite clearly.

I'm not going out in the dark to see what its its actually like on the road, but I suspect the results will be similar.

I ordered the V2 THQ lights in November and fitted them with a HID kit from HIDs4U (stealth 55W kit) - having used these kits on several other vehicles I have always been impressed with the quality. I subsequently read that there were issues with longevity of the HID's particularly is the lights are on auto (so they fire up when you unlock the van etc.) given that changing the lamps/bulbs on the T6 is not an easy road side proposition and that i had several long road trips planned the advice was to use LED's rather than HID (not strictly legal but harder to identify than HID by the MOT man) so I did my research and opted for the best I could find - Phillips X-treme UltinonLED gen 2 with lumileds LUXEON Altilon led's claiming to be 250% brighter than standard H7's (it does state on the box not for road use) we toured Cornwall in early Feb with these which involved inevitable night time driving (in some bad conditions - remember Ciara and Dennis!) and I was impressed with the performance when compared to the HID's and gave good night time visibility.
As a precaution before setting off I put Wilson in to the local MOT garage for a beam alignment check and was informed they were spot on for adjustment and beam pattern)
I have to say the level of illumination from both the HID and the LED is nowhere near as good as my Volvo (which has original Volvo HID's fitted so can only conclude it must be down to the quality of the projector lens used in the THQ units which appears to be set back within the housing behind the square aperture so the full projector sphere is not being used - anyone else got any comments on that?
Last point the LED's were more expensive at £125 than the HID's at £70 but I didn't fancy removing my bumper one wet and cold night when they pack in and having sausage fingers I know I couldn't possible do them in situ

So the yellow right hand light is the Osram night breaker? Advertised as 3700k, I thought they would be whiter and lighter!
Unfortunately there’s a lot of marketing nonsense about halogen bulbs, well, all bulbs for that matter.

The V2 thread talks a lot about that, but the best thing is that a couple of members have already been through the process of trying many different bulbs before finding that the HIDs work best in the transporter HQ projector lights.

The Philips Ultinon V2 LED bulbs are OK, much better than halogen and a big improvement over H4s, but they are expensive and the HIDs are even better for less money.

ChrisR thanks for that - I agree there is so much information and indeed mis information out there it is not easy to find the best solution easily, I wish I'd compared the two side by side when I was doing the swap over!
I will probably swap them back in the next few weeks of social distancing and will take the opportunity to compare and take a few pics to share, thanks again

My V3's and a set of HIDs arrived today. Now I'm going to have to have a good argument with myself over what is most important. I was planning to fix a motorcycle this weekend.

Got mine too, rears fitted today V3 will go in tomorrow

Likewise, mine arrived this morning with the LED bulb upgrade option and also got a pair for the fog lights too...

...hoping to tackle this over the next few days!

Damn it, I should have been brave and gone for the LEDs shouldn’t I!
Anyway, I will try and remember to get a photo tonight of the standard lights and then the upgrades tomorrow. Obviously from my driveway only;)

So I got up early today (earlier than a planned but one of the kids woke me up!) and thought I’d crack on!

I have to say and admit that I actually prefer the less opaque diffuser on the V2. I understand that the diffuser is whiter to hide the leds more but I personally would’ve been fine with that...just my thought and preference.

It does look a little bit like when you don’t get an option on a dash and get a blank instead.
I’m getting a bit distracted by what looks like a lambo in the background though

Lol...ooops! I should’ve taken a little more care when taking the pictures
