TransporterHQ (THQ) Aftermarket Headlights
Hey Guys
I've just had Transporter HQ lights fitted to my transporter and the dipped beam is nothing like this above...
I purchased the better bulbs with the light units too....
H720 compact units will fit strait into my headlight units will they???

I also purchased their upgraded headlights too. But I would recommend NOT paying extra for the upgraded headlights. As I found them too dim, and then spend your money on LED lights which are a vast improvement.

After putting led bulbs in,do you get any warning lights on the dash?.
YES - Got warning light on dash. But headlamps
work in twin mode when fitted with LEDs. Twin mode = Headlight and main beam light both switch on.
With halogen bulbs in single mode. You alternate between headlight on or main beam on. THQ works Main + dipped together.
THQ also provide the specific instructions for logging in with VCDS.
I went from H7s to THQ, so the twin light set up was already activated. The Phillips LED bulbs gave a bulb warning light, but I've turned that off with VCDS. I've just bought some Twenty20 bulbs to try as I am getting some flicker from the Phillips.
If your THQ lights are working with dipped staying on with main beam, having swapped from H4s, then they may well have the additional wiring harness added to enable this.

I've gone from H7s to the thq v2 headlights with osram nightbreaker lazer bulbs fitted. These are a lot better over standard but id like something a bit brighter and im looking to fit leds but dont want the warning on the dash its not good for my ocd!.

I've just swapped my Phillips LEDs for Twenty20 ones this morning. The job was easier than I expected it to be. The hardest part was fishing out the ballast that the Phillips bulbs need. Access isn't too bad, but aided by removing the top of the air box.
First impressions are that the beam pattern is just as sharp against the garage door and the best part, they are properly white, not the blue tinge that the Phillips lamps have.
I can't answer the bulb warning question, as I'd addressed that with VCDS beforehand.
Bring on the darkness so that I can give them a proper test.

I am now totally confused...
I am glad you went for the same bulbs as me. For their cost I think they are great value for money. They are a vast improvement over the Halogen ones. But not too bright to permanently dazzle other motorists as you see with other motorists using aftermarket HID’s etc.
At Bus Fest I chatted with a guy who recommended the Phillips LED’s but they were £120 per pair. And he said very very bright. So it’s a fine line between being an improvement vs being stupidly bright.
Next thing for me is to go and get my headlights aligned to see if they will pass an MOT!

The thread as it has evolved is giving the THQ light fittings as being an improvement over the H4 stock headlight and a slight improvement over the stock H7 type twin lamp headlight, however for a marked improvement in light output the halogen lamps want to be swapped for LED alternatives.
With these LED alternative lamps the power rating is the same as conventional lamps with a 20 watt lamp giving less output than a 30 watt lamp. Also be aware that the LED lamp can be rotated inside it's supporting collar to compensate for the actual light producing part of the lamp not always being in exactly the same place as the tungsten filament of the original OEM lamp... this can also apply to how far into the headlight housing the LED lamp is pushed, which again has a bearing on the light beam pattern.

That is a point well made. And I am not sure if the correct position for the light producing part of the bulb. I have mine in an horizontal position. I inserted one wrong initially and it was in a 45 degree position. And this gave an adverse beam pattern.
I had thought about looking at alternative LED lamps and HID kits that may have a 360 degree light projection lamp. Rather than mine being 2 x horizontal facing light projection surfaces. And that’s why I thought about seeing if they will pass an MOT.
Photo here of my main beam LED. As rhe dipped beam is of course not visible behind the projector lens. But looks the same. just has a different fitting.

That’s correct I have these Twenty20 H1 and H7 LED bulbs.
One of my other posts shows the light outputs.

Hmmm, having just been out to test the Twenty20 bulbs in the dark, I'm not convinced they are as good as the Phillips bulbs. I'm certainly not getting the sort of light that Ethan posted a picture of.
I have the same ones as in his link. The ones that are up to 150% brighter. They do an up to 200% brighter version, but both are rated at 20W, however, the higher output ones have a ballast and cooling fan, like the Phillips ones do. I'm going to whack the halogens back in for ease and see if ABD will exchange them for me. I'm buggered if I'm going to pay out for yet another set.

I’m not convinced by LED bulbs yet. I fitted Philips Ultinon into my THQ V2 headlights today. They are definitely an improvement over the halogen H7’s, but not as good as I was hoping for. I don’t have any canbus errors which is good.
My previous car was a 2011 Audi A4 with factory xenon headlights and they were superior to what I now have in the T6.
I’m now thinking I might have to try an HID kit.
