Towbar cargo carrier recommendation

Hi all, I'm looking for a towbar mounted cargo carrier, but I'm also getting a tailgate bike carrier so I'm a little worried they may snag each other. Has anyone used both at the same time successfully?
I have not bought either yet, I was thinking a vw v2 bike carrier, and maybe something like a Thule Easybase 949 but wondering if the upright frame on the Thule is going to getting the way.
I have used a trailer in the past but it's such a pain reversing and going down small lanes I have decided to try a different solution!
Anyone thoughts?

We looked at the storage / cycle solutions .... measured up the pro’s and con’s and went with the trailer route with bike rack on top...
Just ran out of space....Camping stuff just gets bigger...the older you get the more comfort you want
