I'm looking at getting a tow bar fitted to my LWB kombi with a tailgate for towing a dinghy and then use it to connect a bike carrier when not being used for towing. Anyone have any recommendations what to go for and any fitters in Sheffield area? Cheers
Dont go to main dealer, i asked mine and was told over a thousand but then found out they outsource so went to the place they send them to get it done and cost me less than half !!
Try your local trailer/towing place but make sure they fit the proper vehicle specific wiring kit and not a generic bypass relay as a couple have had done
Agree, got a detachable Westfalia item for around £500. It is wired in to the VW system so the reversing camera still works but when hooked up the rear sensors don't activate. Just google mobile tow bar fitting in your area.
Doesn't the VW OE one affect the stability program as its meant to sense the trailer is connected possibly via the plug loading? and adjust for the trailer? Possibly this is the "extra" price?

Can see no reason why it couldn't, it measures about 15cm square and is 5cm deep, and just sits under the seat. I believe that the swivel unit fits atop of the normal base so these electrics won't swivel with the seat.
