To Rear Spoiler Or Not To Rear Spoiler

Thanks for the encouragement Tourershine, just hope its not going to be a 60 odd pound cluster fcuk :(

Have some door pocket inserts - very comfortable with this fix :D side step entry guards and stainless steel step protectors, also received seat covers and just need rubber mats now front and rear

Also liking the looks of this suspension malarkey but wouldn't even know where to start with this one

All easy jobs, but not sure i'd be overly confident with the longevity of 'stick on' suspension.

Spoiler fixing is really easy. The OEM spoiler, tailgate, fits perfectly so no issues with getting it lined up. Apply the bond to the spoiler, push it in place and apply a bit of tape to stop it moving overnight.

When fitting mine, it pissed it down straight after I taped it down. Was OK though.

With fitting the bumper protector, guess you need to confident, if you start to worry your hands will start shaking.

If somebody started making a rubber rear spoiler it would make life so much simpler getting stuff on and off the roof rack

Im shaking already at the thought, spoiler sounds doable though

Got some tasty gorilla glue, curtain poles haven't fallen down as yet :p
Tommy can i ask for links as to where you bought your bumper protector, doors guards, etc..? Did you get a spoiler done in the end? i'm in the same situation as you at the moment, with the same paint colour as you.

Cheers

Not managed to get a spoiler as yet, since buying the van I've been flat out working away so haven't even had time to wash her yet (only gentle power wash), as soon as get the time will look at fitting rear spoiler along with hopefully some bigger wheels/lower suspension to further enhance her gorgeous white paint job :D

Thank you, i've now ordered most of those myself! Let me know if you get anywhere with a spoiler. I was a bit pissed that the VW accessorise booklet says £290 painted and fitted, and yet my local VW quoted me close to £500! There's a Van specialist near me so i'm going to enquire with them.

So i bit the bullet and had a chav wing and sidebars fitted this week.. i'm quite chuffed with them. One thing i would advise to Tommy is that Pearl Oryx is a b*****d of a paint colour to have, and costs more than most other colours to be sprayed. I paid more than i care to admit to have the spoiler done, and i chose the Vulcan wing bars as they have a semi-subtle step for my twin girls to get in and out, granted a little preemptive as they're only 6 months old at the moment.

Tailgate spoilers generally look pretty good on a Transporter despite being entirely cosmetic, where I'm dithering here is about putting one on the back of my camper as the spoiler would sit lower than the upturned bath tub of a pop top roof and look vaguely like the peak on a builders hard hat rather than the trailing edge of some race replica.
Thing is I've seen a few piccies of campers with spoilers and from the right angle ie. when stuck behind one the spoiler does a fair job of blotting out the view of the pop top, from the side the game is up and you have the two levels where the spoiler will sit 50mm lower sited on top of the tail gate.
A thought here is would it be bonkers to try and reduce the height difference between the two top top surfaces by packing the spoiler slightly off of the tail gate top (no, not the full 50mm!) or would that look like I'm trying too hard and over thinking a non event?

Personally I think they look blooming aweful when the tupee of a roof sits 12” higher than the spoiler. Like wearing a baseball cap underneath a comb-over!

Toupe sir, don't sugar the pill Davey, I probably should have posted a poll in the vain hope that somebody might give a green light to the spoiler but when I dither about something it's generally when I know it won't fly.

Found this online and now I'm back to loving it and not listing... not my van but same colour... mine's currently like this ones frumpy sister.
Couldn't find a picture with the roof down though so realistically the jury should still be out.

My spoiler prevents the tailgate from opening fully when the roof is elevated. It's not much. I can still walk under it without hitting my head off it. I'm 5ft 11in. However if I had packed under the spolier this would create an issue with how far the tailgate would open. This would all depend on your pop top and spoiler combination though.

I have a Hilo sport, with tailgate spoiler, and they go fine together. No obstructing.
